3rd Gen Oil & Oil Filter
What's the best replacement oil filter for a '92 SE. The Engine has 60K miles & Im just now switching to Synthetic. So what oil/oil filter combo should I get. Im gonna change them both at the same time. Also where to get it. THANX

go YZZA2, Thats the one I used. They are relatively inexpensive for such a high quality filter. I bought mine for $4.50 at the dealership. In one of these stickies, someone cut apart the yota filter, and it shows you just how quality they are.

My 94 never had the tick to begin with. I just wanted to do the best I could for my car within my financial means. From what I remember, others have had mixed results. It may not quiet the ticking, but it should at least slow the spread of the ticking throughout all conditions. If you are using the fram filters or the VE replacement oem filter (now universal for the VG and VE), the Toyota should be better for your money.

No oil filter is going to stop the VTCs from ticking once it has started, but the Toyota might help it from getting worse, or slow the process down. It has a backdrain valve and it is considerably smaller, which helps keep the pressure up, where it can reach the top end containing the VTC assemblies. For the price I think it is worth it. Even at my rip-off dealer, they cost $6. Most dealers sell them for less than $5.
On my other cars, I use the NAPA gold filters, which I have had good luck with.
