Pennzoil contains Paraffin and hence not to be used ?!?
I heard from the I30 member (i30ds) that Pennzoil contains Paraffin and hence we SHOULD NOT USE this oil. Anyone can throw more light on this, and how this affects the engine in the longterm ?!?
Thanks.
Thanks.

20 years ago my mechanic said that Penzoil 10-40 oil had paraffin, but not other weights. Not sure if it was true then. Even less sure it it would be true now.
Castrol GTX is excellent, as is Mobil 1 synthetic.

Good Lord! Your mechainc needs to study basic chemistry, read an oil MSDS, or at least check a dictionary.
The word paraffin is a very common and basic term for base mineral oil. The MSDS sheets for many motor oils use the word paraffin to describe the main oil ingredient...as in "SOLVENT-DEWAXED HEAVY PARAFFINIC PETROLEUM," which is how Valvoline phrases it in their MSDS sheets.
Paraffin is the proper organic chemistry word for aliphatic hydrocarbons...more commonly known as oil. It is also the correct name for wax and candles. But there is as much difference between paraffin wax and paraffin oil as there is between a chestnut horse and a horse chestnut. They just aint the same thing. Don't matter whether you're talking about Pennzoil, Castrol, Valvoline or your wife's Christmas candles. If you like Pennzoil, use it worry free. Hope this helps.

Thanks man, I didn't do a thorough research on the engine oils and paraffin but your reply does help!! I was just starting to think that I shouldn't goto Jiffy Lube anymore for oil changes but now it seems okk ... wtf, if Pennzoil was soo bad for engines, then why the hell will such a reasonably big chain of Jiffy Lube patronizes Pennzoil.
But, the dino analysis does make me believe that Castrol GTX is a better choice, even though it's no harm to put Pennzoil.
