What's the correct ATF for 96SE

The car's manual has Dexron II but the Chilton online guide says Dexron III.
I went to Autozone but did not see any types for Dexron II.
Should I use synthetic?

Thanks.

Dexron III replaced Dexron II so it can be safely used. I still think the best thing you can do for your transmission is a high quality synthetic, but any Dexron III compatible ATF is acceptable.
