anyone use 75W-85 Nissan MT fluid?

Hi all: I called a local Nissan dealer about GL4 MT fluid for my 95 SE and they said the Nissan 75-85 fluid is suitable. However my FSM specifies 80-90. Wouldn't 85 weight be too low?

you'd be fine with the 75w85. either one is acceptable.

Hi:

I'm no expert on viscosity but the temperature chart on page MA8 of my FSM says that 85 is good to outside temperature of 86F but 90 is good to outside temperature of 104F. Isn't a upper value of 85 weight with 86F a bit low for summer weather indicating 75W-90 would be a better choice? See page MA8 for the thermometer chart I was referring too.

Thanks!

Your transmission will not know or care. I use Red line synthetic. 75_85. I have used this for about 100k miles. 200k on car. Transmission is quiet, does not leak, and is easy to shift in winter.

My Application Guide indicates either 75w-90 or 80w-90 GL-4 for your car. While Nissan's 75w-85 should work, the "X"w-90 lubes will provide slightly thicker film strength at higher operating temperatures. I would venture that the 75w-85 Redline product probably offers better protection than the Nissan-branded fluid. Another popular choice is AMSOIL 75w-90 GL-4 Manual Transmission and Transaxle Oil...see ad in the Group Deals section.

this is the oil you want. Used it in my 4th gen and also on my 5th gen for the past 70k miles with 30k service intervals and no issues whatsoever. drop shipped to your door for cheaper than stealership stuff
