2002 6spd-253.43whp, 240.35wtq

Mods: OBX headers, megan catback, test pipe, SSIM, NWP spacers, WAI, TS F-Spec w/z33 vtc's, vafc-2

Blue line is dyno with headers, red is dyno with pretty much same mods but with a y-pipe.

Seems a little low to me, since the SAE numbers are only 245 whp. Im a little disappointed with the TS ecu, as I have been since day 1. The most useful part of it is the z33 cam timing for sure, but I feel that I didnt really gain anything up top with it. Couldnt be much happier with the shape of the curve though. Now its time to do a gear ratio analysis to see where to shift

Thats not bad at all, The f spec is 400 correct?

and the curve is very constant.

Well done, perhaps a cattman 3" exhaust is what you need. Im guessing you break loose the tires 25-30 right.

yeah I was really surprised that they were that similar. I guess that above 4k is where the headers make the real difference. Yeah, all the same mods between the two lines except the top line is with headers instead of y-pipe

hmm.. also.. weird tq dip at ~4700 ,, looks like it was all but getting ready to peak and then.. dip.. lol..

so then.. on a modded max these headers make ~ 13hp and 5 hp,.. just sounds weird..wanna come borrow my cattman headers and re dyno? to compare? on one condition.. you install them in my car when your done lol...

i was thinking.. all the other mods might be under rated lol...or are both numbers SAE corrected?,.. same dyno? red line could have been helped out the first time ...just expected a different line i guess oh well lol.. i hope i can put down the same when i get my crap together and on..

same dyno, same correction. The tq part makes sense really. The headers start making more power at 4k+, which is about where tq peaks, so they dont really play that big of a part in peak, but they make 10+wtq over the y-pipe from 5100 to redline. I dont really know how much headers are supposed to make, but I might expect them to make more on a car like mine than stock

well its not that the headers made 13whp 5tq... but 13whp 5tq over an aftermarket Y-pipe... so whatever the Y-pipe made over stock then add 13 on to that... according to hotshotVQ who had a Y-pipe, he was claiming 7-9whp, so the headers was in the ball park of 20+whp which is accurate

to the OP, i just thought i looked at this thread again, and what jumps out to me is that you start losing power from 58K to redline which doesnt seem right to me seeing that you have extended revs with SSIM, i'd at least expect more power or at least keepin the constant power across the board... hmm... u seem to have loss 10whp from your peak hp to redline... SSIM seems to not be doing anything unless 6spds normally lose more power than that...

I dont know, UTEC should be going in within the next few days (as soon as I finish making my patch harness) and then well see. I suspect my timing curve to be the problem. Im hoping I can get the UTEC setup to run MAP only, AKA no MAF, so then the top end WHP should be real nice

Whats your logic behind running MAF-less?

Super short intake (velocity stack and filter right on TB) and less intake obstruction. It would be a separate map only for racing to retain the driveability of the MAF

Running a super short intake pipe is gonna kill your low-end. And you may actually see bigger gains by switching to a 3" MAF/intake setup with less tuning issues.

low end doesnt matter to me. when I race, the car sees below 5600 for like 1 second, then there are 12.5 more seconds of above that level. I will likely tune that map for race fuel also, so it will be even better. If it ends up being slower/making less power then obviously ill do something else, theres no harm in trying. I already have the MAP sensor since I bought it with the map switch, might as well try to put it to use.

BTW, I already have a stock MAF tube bored to 74mm, and dandymax was using a MAP setup when he ran 12.5 or whatever he ran in his NA 3.0L

DandyMax was running MAF-less but he was also cammed.

And even that way his was a 76.2 mm intake going to a PFTB (bigger than the 5.5 gen TB if I remember correctly)

And I'm not actually sure how much he gained just from converting from MAF to MAP
