3.5 Swap #'s

[/IMG]

Final got our dyno up and running Sunday night or should I say Monday morning so I finally got to do a base run on my motor before I start playing with it. This run is a 3.5 with S1 knockoffs, cattman headers, kinetix intake, neo for fuel adjustment,JWT ecu,and the electric exhaust cutout was open.I'm running a stock catback and just opening up the exhaust netted me 8HP and 17TQ! I strongly recommend anyone doing a 3.5 swap to upgrade the exhaust system. I'm going to install a HKS F-CON PRO engine management next so my tuning options will be limitless then the fun begins.Degreeing the cams, trying new intake manifold setups,etc... when you have access to a dyno it is a lot more fun to work on the motor because it's a little bit more accurate than the old butt dyno to tell if what you did works or not.

What sort of dyno is this? Because it doesnt even say what correction it is or anything.

The numbers are nice dont get me wrong, but I think they are low. I say so because (on STD cor), I made 256whp @ 5800/ 245wtq @ 4600 with SSIM, SAFC, headers, open cutout. You have the S1 knocks offs on top of my mods! Yet you're only making 258whp/240wtq, THAT is what has me concerned here.

But at least if we know what dyno machine it is, we can at least know how these numbers came to be.

Also you have a JWT ECU, what are the specs on this? timing advanced?

Dynocom . Not sure about the timing on the JWT ecu because I bought it off the org a few years back when I had a DEK motor in my car. I plan on hooking up a Consult II to map out the timing on the jwt and compare it to the stock ecu so I'll have to get back to you on that.95BLKMAX you have a pm.

Oooh Ooooh, another hardcore gearhead on here that I never knew about Yes, having a dyno FTW. I'd be curious how the kinetix stacks up against my best combo, I'd be down to try to work something out, we both have dyno's so if you have it off for awhile or I could send something your way.......

We are still learning the software on the dyno but it does have a lot of cool features. You can hook up a tree and run a 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile on the dyno with a picture of the track on the big screen in front of you. It looks like a video game.Main reason the dyno was purchased was to break in motors (get the miles on them) faster so Scott the owner of the shop can test and tune the customers cars then get them out the door. The reason I pitched in was to do some R&D on the max and a couple of other vehicles I'm playing with. With Scott's fabrication and tuning skills, and me not afraid to tear into or tear up a motor it's going to be fun. You'll have to come down and check it out.

PM replied

Questions,
- what intake setup did you have for this run? CAI, short ram, no midpipe?
- Im ASSuming (lol) you're using cam adapters for these cams. Any special cam timing for the intake cams? Im sure your top end would further benefit from having the intake cams clocked to the "full retard" position relative to stock 3.5 IF they are not there already.

IN for Consult-II comparison between ECUs for timing graphs
