97 5-spd

At a local car show there was a mobile dyno in a 18 wheeler. It was my first time to dyno and the weather wasn't very optimal, it was 98 degrees outside. but i thought it was decent considering the mods. I have ebay headers and y-pipe. I also have a cold air intake. that's about all the go-fast stuff. i didn't have my nitrous hooked up yet hopefully next time!

the best numbers were 197 hp and 215tq. these are SAE corrected.

without correction i made 204 hp and 223tq

you're not tellin much info. and I'd love to see the dynograph cus how in the world did you make 215wtq on what I ASSUME is a vq30de (since your not talking much details here as to what you have) with just headers ypipe and intake.

Must people dont break the 200whp mark on a VQ30DE unless they have a VI and a/f tuning done, and with a 5spd.

Give details, put up the graph (if you have the runfiles, even better). Dont take it the wrong way but IF you have a VQ30DE, it doesnt make any sense for you to make all that power on just the mods you listed.

that's what it is. i don't have any other mods. i am running 225/50R16 so those are smaller than stock but that's all i can think of. my car was getting hot in the trailer so the numbers went down on the 2nd and 3rd run but still decent.

I am pretty sure that that dyno is wrong. Doesn't the torque and hp supposed to cross each other around 5252 rpm or something in that range?

what sort of dyno is this also? it doesnt look like a dynojet, neither a mustang dyno. is this a dyno dynamics? The #s really by all means are off, the shape of the power cuvers dont make sense given ur mods. Just look at all the other dynos on the moderated dyno thread and see for yourself. This dyno is off and by alot.

uhm....

yeah i see what your saying. i'm not sure what kind of machine it was. i just know it was the "dyno-dragon" and it was mobile. i'll try to look into it and find out what kind of dyno it was

thats my best dyno when I had the 3.0. I had WAI on stock resonator box, WSP ypipe, gutted cat, UDP, SAFC1 tuning, slightly ported and polished LIM and UIMs.

Look at how the power takes a crap after ~5200, THAT is a normal USIM VQ30DE dyno. And the #s are also on STD corection. SAE I think its 186whp/190tq.

So really I have no idea whats goin on with that mobile dyno dragon thing but I would go to an actual dyno shop with a dynojet and do it there. Because the #s that this dragon thing put out dont make sense one bit. I wonder if its somehow trying to calculate the power at the crank, and making all types of weird assumptions to give such inflated #s and shapes that really shouldnt even take place given your mods. Headers or not, with USIM your HP should PLUNGE after ~5200, and TQ should not at any point be over 200WTQ given your mods. Should be down in the 180s WTQ

yeah i see what your saying. uhm....well oh well! haha. i'll just have to go dyno it somewhere farther away when i get my nitrous setup and i'll do some N/A runs also....we shall see what i get next time. !

p.s......i thought it was a little high!

I went to the dynodragn.com website but was unable to really find any info about their mobile dyno machine...

keep us updated when the real #s come back. DYNOJET PLEASE. If possible please always try to get the runfiles. not much as to give to people here but for your own records. Having the run saved on a disk is much more useful than a prinout

every run u do, is called a runfile. its the electrical record of EVERYTHING that the dyno saw during that run. when u have the runfiles saved on a thumb drive or something, you can view it if you have WinPep (dynojet's viewing program). This way one you have either other people's runfiles, or you own runfiles form other times, you can overlay them to compare, you can change the smoothing factor, weather you want it uncorrected, SAE, STD, etc... Its very useful to have it. Like whn you do a few mods for example and you make a new dyno. You can come back home and view you last dyno, then overlay your new dyno, and see exactly where you gained power and how much. Thats mostly what I use it for

ok i talked with the guy that owns the "dyno dragon" and this is what he said.. i don't know much about dyno's so i may have to have some of you experts interpret if this is correct or not....

It's a Dynocom dyno, I don't have the load cell yet but you don't use a load cell to do power pulls just steady state tuning. On a Load Cell dyno the cell is turned off for power runs. It does read lower than a dynojet but not by much. As stated above all dyno's will read a little different the thing you want is consistancy so you can measure your delta from the mods you make. All dyno's are pretty much the same thing they just use different electronics/software to measure power hence the number changes.

does that make any sense? haha

the only thing that i read in there that is CORRECT is "As stated above all dyno's will read a little different the thing you want is consistancy so you can measure your delta from the mods you make."

I NEVER heard of a dynocom dyno, LOL. Must be some madtyte JDM thing, its "dragonified" after all! LOL All dynos are DEFINITELY not the same. He's saying tha his dyno reads "lower than a dynojet"? Dynojet is basically the universal standard for dyno machines as far as being able to compare to one another, and given the #s you pulled from the Dragon, it read CONSIDERABLY higher, and somehow with a completely different power curve than what your car actually makes.

Dynojet dude. Dont waste your time with the Dragon anymore, LOL.

lol!

haha yeah the dragon took a nice chunk out of my walet too! haha

oh well man. kinda sucks that i wasted my money on that but i'm really curious what my car makes. the only problem is that i think the closest dyno is like maybe 6hours away or something.....not too much car stuff here in arkansas....haha.

anyway. thanks for the info 95BLKMAX

given that the arge number of dynos on this forum....or on any vq forum tend to have a range of 180-250 whp the whole comparing one dyno to another thing is a bit over the top. i can understand if we had crazy gaps from one dyno to another like maybe supra or f body guys.

the power curve is odd though, but a dyno is just a tool. if he uses the same one over and over then his difference in power from mod to mod is all that matters. we arent having a crown to see who can be the most underwhelming 3.0 hp king. i can understand if he came back with like 298 using a 3.0 then maybe we should be shocked.

just find one dyno and keep on using it to show the differences your car makes. no two dynos graphs are the same even two dyno jets.

yeah i agree liqidvenom.... but i'm now curious what my car does actually put out. if ( most likely are) the numbers are higher then i would just like to know. so i think once i get my nitrous finished i'll go back and dyno on a dyno jet with N/A and then my nitrous.

that way we can see if the dragon is wrong or if my car is a factory freak!! haha
