Finally dyno'd my 5.5 6MT

Well i finally got the max on a dyno. I was extremely busy today so i had to drop it off and pick it up so i wasnt able to be there which bugged me a little bit. It was dyno'd at Maxwell Dodge in Austin, TX on a dynojet (dont konw the specific number). I also had to show the dyno operator how to tune w/ the VAFC II. I'm not sure where the mix up came but he only did 3 pulls and didnt tune at all. I told him to do as many pulls as it took to get the most power but yup....he didnt. I'm gonna go back tomorrow and do some tuning but i wanted some input from all you knowledgeable vets. Sorry, i dont have runfiles, i couldnt even talk to the operator when i picked up the car, he had already left, but ill get more information tomorrow. Let me know what u guys think, what a/f ratio i should shoot, etc. I would have thrown a test pipe on there but Tuning Pros sent me the wrong MR test pipe. Its about 1.5 inches too long, no way its going on.

My setup is Cattman 3rd gen headers, a cosmo short ram intake w/ cheap autozone filter, stock cat, MR catback w/ magnaflow street series 14816 muffler and obviously a VAFC II thats not been put to use.

Heres i guess the best of the 3 runs, dont know which # run it actually was though. My scanner cut off the bottom text a little bit. All it says is Max power = 234.12 Max Torque = 232.57

I'm basically gong to be tuning the car on my own tomorrow, so any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.

Of course, you will need to get all 24 points in to take full advantage.

Overall, it's pretty good. Nice shape, took it to fuel cut, fair AFR curve, not bad. I would say try a little leaner and flatter and see if it makes a difference. Say try from 13.0 - 13.5, nice and flat at each run interval and see what that does. Let her set for 10 - 15 min between, turn the AC on during that time. (Car off, AC on of course).

Thanks Nmex.

I've got all 24 points set every few hundred rpm. She's ready I just need to figure out how to do it. Excuse my noobness but what does turning the AC on do during that time do, just cool the engine down to prevent heat soak?

any updates? The people who dyno tuned my car did not use all 24 points on my VAFC2 which is why my whp number was probably so low: 230whp (mods in sig) wtq was 240. The shop wasnt familiar with the AFC unit...ah well

Still proves that the stock airbox isn't as restrictive as some make it out to be.

My motor is tuned for 14.0 across the board. Even with Florida hot weather never ping'd. I did it that lean not because the a/f got me more power, but because of the indirect timing advance from taking out that much fuel.

I tend to agree here.

I wasnt able to go back and tune. I had too many things to do before my ski trip but I'm satisifed w/ the numbers for now. I'll go back next time w/ a few more mods and tune and hopefully get some better numbers.
