The 14.4 ET has been solved (234.54/225.17)

got afr tuned today and realized wtf was going on, first run the afr was so rich that the machine couldnt even read it.

after a deal of tuning, let the car sit and made another 3 runs and tuned some more, the best was 234.54 WHP and 225.17 WTQ. Id say im much happier and i could def notice that difference on the way home. cant wait to get back to the track and see if i can do any better. i think it would have made better numbers if we had let it sit again cause he got the afr a little smoother but it was pretty heat soaked after 9 pulls in an hour. the afr is really goofy from 4-4.5, but after messing with it it didnt change so

Power mod list: custom short ram intake (filter, hemholtz resonator, maf tube), bored out 75mm maf tube, shelf removed, y-pipe, test pipe, vafc tune. its a 2002 6-spd

Nice #'s. I'm wondering just how much headers would help at this point.

You know I'm going to ask, got the DRF's? Also, how much correction are you taking out (%)? I'm curious as to why it was so rich in the first place. How many runs did it take to get to that point? What were the SAE CF#'s?

The large gain in power could be attributed to both AFR and possible added timing considering how rich it was.

ill find out, but it might not be for a while (years) cause im still going to school and dont quite that much, the 150 dyno tune is pushing it.

pm me the email, i have 9 for you. CF's we started at -6 @ 3000 and tapered to -10 @ 4500-cut (checking this). i wish i knew why it was so rich to start too, i expected the opposite since i have the sort-of bored intake.

Even then strong #'s considering you do not have headers,

bizzy1999@hotmail.com.

I also expected maybe a little leaner because of the MAF. Looks like some DEK dynos I've seen before (fat AFR).

yeah, i think youre right about the timing thing, just like using bigger injectors or higher pressure and removing fuel, except i just have a retarded ecu.

Edit: the official CF's: -4 +/-1 from 2500-4100, -8+/-1 from 4100-cut. theres a little extrapolation in there, but it mostly follows that. i think the -6 and -9 that i stated before were the first corrections.

interestingly enough, the highest #'s were from the only 4th gear pull. he was doing 3rd gear pulls to try to keep the heat soak down. i guess i should have stuck around until it cooled off and then had him run another in 4th to see the final outcome. oh well. and to add to that, the base run had some breaking up with it, the operator said it was because it was running so reach that the machine couldnt even read it. i guess it doesnt matter since the rest are all fine

lol, if its anything like mine you need a tune from 2k-6650. my car now feels faster in full trim (150+ lbs extra, heavy 18's) than it did in race trim and a good deal faster than it did before in full trim.

You are still on the rich side from 5-6.3k. Pull some fuel there. Try to tune to make the a/f line as flat as possible from 3k to about 6k at 13:1 ratio and 6-6.5k to about 12.5 or 12.7. The whole line should be a smooth line.

yeah i did a little more tweaking, just a small change at 4k, 6k and 6500. wish i had a WBO2 so i could see again. but im happy with what i got, considering it was only an hour of actual dyno time (20 mins setup) and a 35hp, 25tq gain. lol. probly the best $/hp mod that i have. but youre right, it should be smoother. it looks really straight on the printout, but i blew the afr way up on my comp and its pretty obvious
