How TO: Clean your door jams with pics

well from the day i got my 5.5 which was 1 year ago, i noticed the DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY door jams, i never seen anything like it in my life. i guess its all the highway miles on my car, but still they were soooo nasty the dirt grime was caked on realllly bad.

i tryed to clean with soap water, glass cleaner and nothing worked. so i gave up and delt with it.

untill finally i found something that worked, KRUD KUTTER, got it from lowes

on with the pics

dirty son!!!!!!

sprayed on, took a tooth brush cleand it all, then hosed it off, i done this 2-3 times to make sure it was all clean,

DO NOT leve the krud kutter on for long, its VERY strong and will take paint off......

all clean

man this literally makes the car feel bran new, its sooo much cleaner , idk if its just me but the door jams being dirty drove me insane, and now im happy, these things are clean as ever!!!!!!!!

something i would reccomend to anyone selling a car!!! even if you dont look at the door jam, if its clean it will go noticed !!

that's disgusting!!!

Bug&Tar remover would have done the same thing, but without the risk of stripping paint. I did my dad's engine bay with it and here here are some before/after pictures.

Some time and good finger ****ing ended up in a great finished product

**move to Detailing?**

nice job...just be sure that you don't hit the hinges too much, or you'll get squeaky doors when all the grease is "degreased"

moving to detailing forum...

The Bug&Tar worked great, it just needed a little bit of elbow grease and some time to get through it.

A degreaser such as purple power or simple green work great...I use purple power cut 1/2 water 1/2 degreaser(just to avoid possibly messing up the paint) and it works very well with door jambs..just need some small tools to get in there and scrub.

i don't know about using something that will strip paint off. Soap/Water, Simple green, Meg's APC, and the such would have done just fine.

I've seen door jambs like that at work, usually just a terry cloth towel and some soapy water knocks it right off.
