ive used the claybar on all of my cars (within the last 8-9 years) and know that it takes A LOT of effort to do a car right.... so, today the temp was about 60*, i took the dog out with me and bought a new claybar. it took me about 5 hours to wash/dry/claybar/wash/dry/wax/interior the car, but now that im done, god damn it looks brand new! the amount of dirt that was in/on the pain was BAD.
i bought the car used about 6 months ago and this is the first time ive been able to clay/wax it.
if youve never used a claybar, i recommend it- definitely! the car seriously looks better than a brand-new Max.... the paint is as smooth as glass.
Man looks good!! I use Turtle cleaning wax on mine I also bought mine used about 3 months ago and wil be doing the same thing as soon as we get a nice weekend.

i keep hearing about claybars..is it worth doing on a car thats only 6 months old..also someone was telling me you could damage the paint if you don't know what your doing?
if i wax after claybar should i not use an abrasive wax? and would it be ok to use polish to like nu finish?
Claying doesn't leave anything on the surface. It is solely for removing "stuff" from the clear coat. So...you can do whatever you want after that...wax or polish then wax.
I usually claybar two to three times per year, depending on the condition of my paint, where the car sat, etc, etc....
???: How long does a reg. sized bar last? How much GUNK can one "injest" before it spoils, and can be a harm to your paint surface??
Normally, i don't get much residue off my vehicle between sessions, but recently, I 'barred the doors and bumpers and got ALOT of NOTICABLE RESIDUE in the bar!
I'm pretty sure I should not use this one again, but it WAS new when I started.

I bought a claybar a couple years ago and still haven't got around to using it. After seeing a couple of your rides after the claybar...I think I'll make time this weekend.

Today I used a clay bar for the first time. It was from Blackfire's Polyclay Kit. From the videos I saw on the net is looks like it should be soft, almost like play-do although mine was tough as beans and hard to fold.
Does the claybar make a sound when you are using it properly? Mine sounded like rubbing wool on vinyl or something. I was scared as hell that something was snagging on the paint but it still continued when I folded it over and I had a lot of lube, maybe too much even. I did notice some scratches on the hood, not sure if I did those or they have been there for ever as its the first time I've done anything besides a wash to my Maxima(bought it used 6 months ago).
Your clay bar should definately no be "hard as beans". I just picked mine up today and they're very pliable. If I have time tomorrow, and weather permitting, I think I'm gonna give it a go
