Soaking Wet Carpet - Best drying techniqes?

I bought some interior carpet out of a max and it is saoking wet on one whole side since the car had a broken window. I dont see any mold or mildew so I assume that it hadnt been wet for too long, however after I pulled it out there was about an inch of standing water in the side of the car.

What is the best way to dry out this carpet and sanitize it?

BTW, Its out of the car and just sitting on the floor of my garage.

Also,

I have not waxed all winter. I scratch-x'd and NXT 2.0'd it yesterday and it looks decent....muchbetter than it did at least. My car has great paint on it but I was wondering what the right order would be:

Wash, Scratch X, Clay, and then NXT

or am I out of order anywhere?

Wet-dry vac would be a good start. Once you've vaccumed up everything you can get, just leave it out in the sun. Maybe use this as a good opportunity to shampoo it. I've soaked my mats in a tub with detergent and really hot water. It drys after a couple hours.

I've used one of those commerical rental rug shampoo machines from Home Depot. They have a hand attachment that can reach into the car. If you have fabric upholstry, you can do the whole car while your at it including the underside of the roof.

It works amazing, the liquid only cycles once with the soap and it turns dirty brown/black when you dump it out.
