What should one do about the rock chips in the hood??

I don't know about everyone else, but I get these rock chips in the hood. Not very big, but since the hood is silver under the paint, you can spot it if you look close enough. I have been using the touch-up paint, but it looks like the car has pimples now. I was thinking of eventually having the hood repainted. But then people might think it was in an accident. I don't even live in the country. The roads are paved here! What's the word on the street?

Sux man. I have the same problem. I'm touching it up till it has to be painted. As for the car looking like it was hit, you need to bring it to the right shop. My guy is flawless. Check my website for the work he did on my 69. He's in Mount Vernon 10 mins over the whitestone bridge. Presicione Auto ask for Nick.

Guys, you are not alone on the rock chip issue. This is something that spans back to earlier generations.

Car bra, but that probably creates more problems than it solves (i.e. ugly car).

As sad as it sounds, I'd probably rather have to deal with rock chips than put a bra on the car. Although the clear bra that a few people around here have is pretty neat.

A bra on a Max is ugly, IMHO. I too have many rock chips and have learned to live with them. Touch up paint really isn't the answer either. I have used it on the big ones but not on the smaller ones.

there are kits to fix it......and they work well...i am lucky enough to have a guy in my area who charges 40 bucks, plus 2 bucks per chip...honestly he is unreal..you cant even tell where they were when he is done.....it is absolutelty perfect...no pimples, no color diff.

I loved the bra on my 96 taurus...but i agree...it effectively scratched up the paint behind it and held filth. Never once considered it on this maxima...#1 reason being this car has much too busy of a front end for a bra to look good..My chips are there but arent that bad...stay away from dump trucks and aviod following close are my ways to keep the front nice. I aint paying $300+ to get a clearbra installed...this isnt a frickin ferrari. lol

I noticed the rock chips more after I waxed the 98 I just bought. I may look intofinding someone to touch them up with an air gun.
