my e-mail to Directed Electronics Inc.

Dear Whom It May Concern:

I just want you to know what kind of CROOKS, and most two faced people are running your local DEI dealers. After paying top dollar ($900) for a Viper 791xv two way remote start, top of the line security system installed by your dealer (Mobile Fantasy, 9353 RESEDA BLVD NORTHRIDGE , CA 91324), I would expect your dealers to have some decency and value their customers. I anxiously bought and installed this unit on 06/26/2006 at your dealer, Mobile Fantasy. I find it extrmely interesting that your dealers are nice to people who are seeking to get some work done and pretend as if they will go above and beyond for you to make you comfortable, but as soon as you hand them the money, you find out just what kind of two faced people you are dealing with. Days after my install, I was having numerous problems with my system. The system would go off for no reason, the car wouldn't start, the pager would page me nonstop. I took the car in multiple times for repair but all of a sudden your dealers were to busy to deal with me. Now that they had $900 of my hard earned money in their pocket, they wouldn’t want to deal with me anymore and would rather find another $900 customer to sugar coat. The way this dealership treats ex-clients is simply PATHETIC. They would absolutly do nothing to stand behind their work. The only thing they are best at is giving you the run around. "warranty"?, it seems that mobile fantasy strongly disbelieves in the word "warranty", they must be practicing a religion with a bible called “PROFIT”. It took them a full two weeks to change a defective motion sensor. They kept giving me the run around the entire time because their time was being dedicated to the customers that were seeking to get some work done, not the customers that had issues with the systems purchased. Last month, after 1 year of owning my unit, my remote suddenly stopped working. It would no longer receive or send signals to the car. I took the vehicle to Mobile Fantasy seeking some help and a better experience. After waiting around for 1 hour, I was generously allowed permission to explain my situation to the professional acters pretending they were hearing me. First thing I was asked for was the warranty paper and because my unit was one month out of parts warranty, all of a sudden there was nothing they could do for me. Your dealership didnt even bother to listen to what i had to say nor diagnose the problem. Their attidue towards me was "if your warranty is expired, you need new parts". This must be written in the “profit bible” because Mobile Fantasy did not even bother to take a look at my car nor my remote to conclude that I needed to purchase a new one for $150. Their best interest was making another sale off of me to make a profit. After all, Michael, the owner of the dealer has a brand new porsche he needs to make payments on and the money must come out of my pocket. Lifetime warranty on installation and labor doesnt exist at mobile fantasy, mobile fantasy strongly believes in maximizing profits. After being treated horribly by your dealer and getting into an argument, I quickly exited the store, regreting every single penny I had spent at Mobile Fantasy. When I arrived at home, I figured that I should try to reprogram the remote myself since Mobile Fantasy was too busy to do this for me. I took out the owners manual and went to work, minutes later, my remote was as good as new. Unlike earlier that day, it would lock and ulock the doors, it would send signal and receive signals from the car. Your EXPERTS at mobile fantasy quickly decided that i needed a remote without doing ANY type diagnostics. My guess is that it would have taken them longer to diagnose the problem than it would have taken them to sell me a new remote. Is this how you guys run your business? If i knew that I would be treated this way, I would have never stepped inside your stores. Granted, your average joe doesn’t spend close to a 4 digit figure on a security system for his vehicle. I would expect better manners towards those that do. Simply put, Michael @ Mobile Fantasy and the way he runs the business is simply one of a kind. Being a member of an online car club that has over 26,000 members, I will make sure every single one of them avoids using DEI products, and I will tell all of my friends to avoid Mobile Fantasy in their best interest. I would also like to thank DEI for offering a “warranty” with their products.

-Michael

I hope you used proper paragraphs, at least if you actually want that mess to be read and taken seriously.

yeah in the email it looked all nice i dont give a rats a$$ what they think or not. what im trying to get at is for all the future buyers, dont go spending top dollar on a viper alarm and expect the so called "authorized" dealer to lick your balls when you have issues. dont be an idiot like me and pass up on the awesome deal on ebay for $200 and get it installed for another $200. i had the chance to have the whole thing off ebay for $500 installed but i didnt, thinking the dealer would stand behind their products. what is the whole point of an authorized dealer then? to back up their freakin products. if not, we can have the local homeless guy install it for us.

Mr. Shirazi, I’m sorry you had this bad experience with our dealer. I have logged your complaint in our database and informed the Sales Manager. If in the future you need a referral to a different dealer please contact me.

Best regards,

No offense, but VIP Maxima, you are a sucker if you paid 900 for a 791xv. I hope you got a whole lot more than a motion sensor with that for your money, else you got raped.

Secondly, as far as advising people against DEI products, the product itself has nothing to do with the installation nor the warranty nor the price you paid. I have had nothing but positive experiences, not only with product, but with their warranty and tech support. They are the #1 automotive security brand for a reason. There are always scam artists or two faced people out there...this is the real world...I wouldve thought that being a forum member, you would know to research in your area to find a very good local installer, rather than paying out the @ss at some big name shop. This wouldve most likely solved all your initial headaches and trips back to Mobile Fantasy, as well as kept some coin in your pocket. There are good and bad experiences at every single shop, whether its the biggest chain or the smallest garage.

Try another shop who carries another brand, where the brand is sh!t on top of the installer or shop, the shop, then see how bad your problems get.

Im really not trying to piss you off at all, but the attacks against the product itself have nothing to do with your experience. As an installer myself, and knowing other installers on this forum, I cannot sit back and let a great product get a bad name when newbs come on here and read your one bad experience.

i know i got raped on my install, probably by $300. i knew it when i signed the papers. i had several add ons such as motion sensor, wheel/tire sensor, glass & shock sensor. all added up to $860. my car was vandalized several times at work last year and i was scared they were going to take it. working 60 hours a week, i really had no time to save me a coupla hundred then. i knew shops that would do the whole 9 yards for 500 installed but i just didnt have the time back then. and since the dealer was 2 miles away from work, i dropped it off in the morning, walked to work, walked back to dealership and picked it up the sameday. i sucked it up cuz i was desperate.

the product is not all that great either. i have had several issues with mine. all local authorized dealers are crooks around here. after mobile fantasy refused to do jack **** for me, i drove 4 miles to sound waves, another authorized dealer, they immediatly refused any help cuz the product wasnt purchased from them. drove another 2 miles to checkerd flag, another dealer, and samething. not willing to help. crook shops. mobile fantasy is the biggest crook.

muther****er mobile fantasy had an OPEN box 791xv remote laying on his desk. he said i needed a remote, i told him ok. well program that remote and if my problem is solved then i guess i need a remote. otherwise, you havent done any diagnostics to conclude that i need a remote. he then tells me, if he programs the remote then i have to buy it cuz he cant sell it to anyone else. i told him, u can de-program it but he said nope, if he programs the remote, i have to buy it cuz he cant sell it to anyone else. i told him one last time to program the remote so we can see if the problem is with the remote or not, his exact words were "DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO". he then got up and left outside leaving me in the store. asshat was sitting there and arguing with me over an OPEN BOX REMOTE.

Im sorry but you got ripped off.. $900? I purchased my system for $400 installed two years ago after my car was stolen and I havent had any problems with it other than the LED burning out.
