nissan headlight anti-theft kit / dealership debate

hello everyone,

as you may or may not know, im new to the forum. i recently posted a thread b/c they stole my headlights,

anyway i just got the car back on monday, i wanted to get the nissan headlight anti theft kit, but the stealership service guy told me they no longer make them

can anyone corroborate this? i mean is it true or is he simply liying to me hoping ill come back for two more headlights???

i would call different dealerships in your state and see what they have to say,... your refering to the data dot or something like that correct?... i dont see why they wouldnt be available...they are prob telling you that because they would have to get them to you for near nothing and dont want to be bothered... nice huh

thats a really broad statement. i dont work at a dealership but that statement pisses me off. i have never gotten screwed at a dealership.
they are a business...the whole point of a business is to make money. if you go in educated and polite...you wont get screwed. if you go in with the grudge you have, they are going to put off by you and not work to help you.

again...be smart enough to not get fuked.

people at mcdonalds try to get you to supersize
its business

i laugh when im sitting at the dealership and hear some of the things people pay the dealership to do
$30 to change a bulb
$60 to remove a nail in the tire
if people are gonna pay it...the dealership will take it

There is a post on nycmaximas.org that a member had their headlights stolen WITH the data dots. The data dots are only HARDER to take out than the regular 5.5 gen headlights but if someone wants them, they'll get them. And if they don't, after all the pullling and prying your front bumper, headlights and maybe even the grill will be damaged. IMO, just get 00-01 headlights smoked and call it a day. It's not worth the hassle of dealing with ppl. damaging your property.

data dots is different from the anti theft kit. the kit is supposed to prevent theft....data dots make it easier to find your headlights after they have been stolen.

see, the thing is, there are people out there who don't know anything about cars... and when it breaks down they don't have the knowledge to know when they're getting screwed.. this consumer (for example, maybe your or my grandmother) may be polite, but just unknowledgable.. and there are dealerships out there who will take advantage of people who don't know any better, because i've seen it.. don't try to justify their dishonesty, because they are wrong.. and to fault the general consumer for not having the knowledge of a car enthusiast is placing the blame on the wrong party.. dealerships and mechanics are wrong for lying and screwing people out of money.. bottom line.

Data dots are very small stickers that have an ID# on them, If your headlights are recovered police can read the # with a microscope and get them back to you. It is supposed to be a deterrant (sp?) to thieves since it is proof that the headlights are stolen. http://www.microdotprotection.com/faq.html

I Thought the antitheft kit and data dots came together. My car has the Data Dots stickers (It came from Conn.). I Assumed it had the anti-theft kit but I don't see anything on the car that looks like extra brakets, are they obvious if I pop the hood? I was thinking of getting angel eyes but the thought of dealing with the anti theft brakets was holding me back.

it's a natural progression. us 4th gens made it possible for the 5th gens to have the mods community they have.
