Easter Week-end was deadly here in Montreal

Fellow Orgers, Speed and Drink a deadly combo:

There was a car crash early Saturday morning around 1 AM about 5 minutes from my house. The driver Ryan Allen, 31 was on his way home on Brunswick Blvd about 5 minutes from my home. He was showing off to his two friends both passengers in his car about how fast his brand new 09 Maxima was and while passing another car he lost control, hit the median and rolled several times before slamming in to a building. He was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after the crash. His friend in the front passenger seat, Andrew Dumesnil 30, was ejected from his seat and died later of his injuries. A third unidentified passenger who suffered severe head injuries is in stable condition in the hospital. This is the second crash at this site since 1998 that killed two others back then...and here's the weird part, they were all friends! Estimates had the car going over 100 mph at the time of the crash. There is a 500 yard straightaway on that part of the road before a trafic light and a poorly banked curve. The two storey building that they crashed in to has a huge hole in the wall and is now under major repair. The lesson to be learnt here is that speed and alcohol are deadly and that drinking and driving is bad news. If you're going to speed, do it on the track alone and sober, not on public streets. Ryan, who was driving, was celebrating his birthday....

RIP

Dude, that is sad, we had the same situation in Mass. Some kid was speeding, lost control and the car fell into the water. The passenger got out safe, but he went to the nearest house to ask for help, but by the time the cops got there and got the kid out, he was pronounced dead.

I just wanted to let you know about an incident that happened here in TO like 2-3 weeks ago...

They caught a guy doing 250km/h (like 150 m/h I guess) (G37S) on the highway @ 3 in the morning...took his car away for a week; 6 demerit points (after 9 you get your license suspended for like 3 months I think) and fined him like $1000....that's no justice man!!! His excuse -> was testing his new lease....

Now tell me, after reading this, how can people be that dumb and inconsiderate and risk not only their lives but everyone around them ???

It's called a track...jeez!!!
There is one not far from Toronto...you pay like $300-$400 a year and you can drive the sht out of your ride until your arms are legs are sore....controlled envioronment w/o innocent people around...

Just wanted to let you guys know what kind of idiots exist here (pretty sure you guys have the same kind in the US also)

Really sad man......-> RIP <-

People buy cars with power to use them. I dont understand why buy a Maxima or a G37S in this case to not drive it. I agree 150 is a bit far but about 85-90 should be fine I mean there is a reason why we do performace mods. I can do the same in my corolla if I want to do 65, So yea people might flame me for it but hey, if you mod your car performance wise you should see my point.

Im not saying that 85-90 on an open highway isnt normally safe but when your doing those speeds in town youre an idiot. I know I go too fast most places I go but not the speeds they are talking about above if somebody is going that fast and gets into a wreck I pray that they are the only ones who end up dead and not some kids playing in their yard. I may be biassed but thats my 2cents

Completely agree with you there. What I was saying was for me I usually hit 100 and keep a constant speed of 90-100 on my way to canada (Open Highways). But I usually go during weekdays and at night so I see one car about every 10 mins or so. So my point was we all speed it all depends on your control of your car and the traffic.

I disagree on certain points. While it is sad young men lost their lives you don't drink and drive. You buy upgrades to enhance the performance of your car but you take it to the tracks. If you drive you need to respect the car and not treat it like a toy. If you drive excessive speeds then you need to take defensive driving courses and maybe learn to drive fast cars at a race school. I have seen the crashes and death caused by a drunk driver and a inexperienced driver.

I think driving like an idiot in general is stupid.

Not to mention even driving conservatively while intoxicated is dangerous.

Not to say my driving is excusable but I have taken driving lessons at a race school. It still doesnt excuse reckless behavior on the street. And I agree that any type of intoxicated driving is wrong and should not be permited

Really sad, i feel it for his friends more than anything. Sad story. But i do agree that we mod our cars for speed but there is a time and a place.

It is a sad story and my prayer to the respective family. Let's put it that way the guy was driving like an idiot and he died like the idiot he was. We all know that drinking and driving is the worst stupid thing anyone can do but even though many does it anyway. What else can be said beside that when you are smart you dont do thing like that.

We live in a free world and people are free to live or die, but the saddest thing is the innocent people who died because of the way the other was driving, that is one more reason why I left many friends in my 20's, I was smart enough and decided that I wanted to live, I'm now 48 alive & kicking. My best friend died on his 18 birthday in a very similar situation but he was alone in the car, he basically spent the night drinking. I was suppose to go with him that night, but the little voice inside me told me to stay home with the family and that's what I did. There is not a single day that pass without me thinking gee I'm so grateful to that little voice inside me...
