Maxima Cabin air filter??

Anyone know of a Canadian chain that carries this? Today I went to Canadian Tire and Napa and neither of them have it even existing in their filter books, yet from reading the 4th gen forum it seems in the states there's lots of places that sell them outside of the dealership.

Any ideas? I'm specifically looking for 4th gen but the thing I noticed about Cdn Tire and Napa is they didn't list the filters for *any* generation of Max. I really don't want to have to buy a $15 filter for some outrageous dealer price.

Thanks

Need to go to the dealer for those. I believe Nissan is the only place that will carry them, being that they are a nissan specific thing. Most customers arent even aware there vehicle is equipped with a Incabin Micro airfilter!

Oh and by the way, its not 15$ from the dealer, try 80.

If you have a 4th gen, you do NOT have a Incabin Micro airfilter, AFAIK, 02 + maximas have them, but i dont know if the 00-01 do, i dont think they do.

They are very simple to install, take out your glovebox, pop out the two little clips that hold it in at the bottom, take out the top, use a small screw driver, pop out the access cover, and pull out the filter.

Hmm weird I'm not sure why I thought the 4th gen had the filter... guess it's a mixed blessing as it saves me $80, but I seem to have to clean off a coating of weird black grit off my dashboard almost every week.. wonder if I could retrofit one it somehow..

Yeah. Honestly, when you work at a dealership, and you see how dirty these things get within 6 months to a year, you really kinda wonder what your lungs look like. Ive seen these things pitch black depending on the environment. I honestly dont know what would be involved on retrofitting one in, ive pondered it too, it would definately require some hacking, or possibly using some of the 5.5 gen HVAC equipment ?

Well exactly, I've looked at some of the pics from the threads on here where people were showing off their nasty filters and it kinda freaks me out that my lungs are taking care of that instead! I'd even consider a hack job which just involved chopping up a non-dealer-bought cabin filter and stuffing the filter media in by the blower somehow.. it would help to have a diagram of all the 4th gen hvac system; I'm going to check some manuals

A little off topic for the OP's issue, but CT does have in-cabin filters for 6th gens listed in their catalogue. But none of the CT's around me stock them.

In Cabin air filter

Just came from CT for my '07. $45. Does not seem extreme?? Why such a high cost?? Is it built differently from a regular air filter??

Check out this web site for all those north of the border. http://www.autopartsonlinecanada.com/

I was able to order a replacement air filter including shipping for $35

Thanks,

extreme is what the dealership will charge you to r&r that in cabin micro filter.
that's why it is different than a regular air filter.... "micro"

Just read my manual for the 01. There is no mention of a cabin filter. That's probably why the parts store in the US did not list this.
