Well, your not going to get much luck for 3rd gens only. I think most of the maxima enthusiests here are all 4th gen owners.

But your more then welcome to come meet up with us 4th gen owners. Theres not many of us, but there are a few.

Where abouts in surrey are you? I am in the fleetwood area alot, so is Grant (Got_max)

I'm coming out of the woods in the states but that's just wrong. Why would you make a meet just for third gens? Why not involve all maxim's instead? It would make a better turn out instead of just having all turd gens.

I see where you're coming from Burhan, but I've never called a 3rd gen only meet. Here in the GTA our club loses a 3rd gen consistently every year - and there weren't that many to begin with - like 5 us 4 years ago. Now there's just me and one other 3rd genner.

Hadman is there anyone you know of (or even yourself) in Toronto, that has done a re-ring/valve job on the VG?

I haven't, but it's very possible one of the other local 3rd gen gurus have, but I don't know of any. What do you need to find out specifically about the job?

Basically - if I ever do it as an experimental project (right now it doesn't need it), I would rather have another maxima guy there so 2 heads better than 1. For instance, in the spring/summer I'm going to pull the VG engine & tranny out, mount it on a stand, and do some stuff on it - so it would be nice to have someone else there.

I should be fine on my own, but it's fun working on the car late at night on a Friday & Sat night - I have a great sheltered area to work on it, with decent lighting, a good BBQ, plus an outdoor WOK burner.

Do you do alot of mechanical work on your 3rd Gen yourself? Or get someone to do it?

I hear ya. I used to do a lot of mechanical work on it, but I just don't have the time like I used to before I became a dad last year. Plus I've had my car for 13 years so most of what I want/need done has been done already.
Just smaller projects now.

I'm curious how you kept the cars body from rusting. Do you actually have any rust underneath? How about your wheel wells - is there rust under the plastic factory coating? I just noticed the drivers side rear seatbelt anchor is totally rusted out from inside the trunk. That seat is officially out of order now. For some reason the other side isn't rusted at all.

The main rust prevention with my car is that I lived in Los Angeles from 1995-2003, so it didn't see any salt ever until 2003.
The rear anchor drivers side is a well known issue on 3rd gens. Though I didn't have it in my Cali car, I purchased a donor car here when I did the engine swap. That car had a hole by the rear anchor big enough to put 3 fingers through.

I wonder if the rust recall thing applies in Canada. I'm going to look into it. Today I had to make someone sit in the middle seat - that's seats gone now.

I was fooling with the anchor yesterday and was yanking on it as hard as I could from the inside, and prying it back and forth, back and forth from in the trunk - and it pretty much has snapped off and is dangling now.

Yeah I don't know what the statute of limitations is on the recall. Something like this you'd expect to be for life, given that it could potentially take a life in an accident.

My guess on the Monroe would be Crappy Tire, though I can't say for sure as I've never run on Monroe struts. I run on KYB GR2's.

I just want to get this car to the spring, and i'm going to junkyard it. If you were to get a newer generation maxima wich one of the next 2 (4th or 5th gen)? Is one more reliable than the other?

We met out at the Silver City parking lot in Richmond in March a few years ago and froze our butts off. I would say April at the earliest.

Just saw this, I'd definitely love to see what other 3rd gens are out there. I see the odd one, but usually they're pretty beat up.

Well if we can get significant interest, id be up for a meet! My cars nothing special right now, still waiting for some parts, but its on the road. It would be nice to mingle with other maxima enthusiests, seeing as how few and far between they are now

Anyways, are we going to aim for mid to late april then? Not too hot, not to cold? For me, Sunday would be best, what about you guys? Maybe we can invite some other nissan guys too? Maybe G20/Senta/Altima/350Z?

I'm interested in a meet be it nissans or whatever. This rain though isn't very nice lately for driving around. If you guys end up doing something I'd be down to come meet a few other Max owners.

Oh and if anyone knows of a Bose head unit for a 95-99 Max I'm hunting for one and a door speaker. Sucks driving and not knowing if I'll have tunes to drive with or not.
Contact me here or 604 755 9611

Thanks
Ron

I'd be in for a meet when the weather gets nicer. It's been a while since I've gone to anything.
