SO did you put the winter tires on yet?

Just wondering who has put their winter tires on?
And what are you running for brand?
I have general altimax artic. They are studdable but I didn't bother with studding them. a million times better than my all seasons that I have been running in winters past.

Well whenever they come in, i have 225/45/17 Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 to go on my Superleggeras for winter.

For the past years ive run 16's. but because of my brakes im stuck with 17" +. I had continentals before. They werent bad. These Blizzak WS60's are suppose to be incredible in the snow, one of the best with the Nokian Happerlita RSI/R

Waiting for the first snowfall to arrive and then they shall go on.

Running Bridgestone Blizzak's LM-22s. Incredible deep snow and ice traction.

Raziq... I ended up ordering mine from 1010tires.ca
that was last winter. SHipped to my door it was just about 600 I believe. I had a buddy mount them to my stock rims for a case of beer. So 615 total.
From 1010tires.com website. Last year they had a free shipping deal. I lucked in.
Hankook W409 Winter i*Pike - 215/65R16 98 T - BW 1007093 $140.99
$563.96
Total (GST, HST, PST and environmental levies are extra, where applicable): $563.96 CDN
I believe you then need to add the alberta tire tax onto that price. Not too sure how that compares to prices you have seen. Your still working in a shop so you could mount them up right?
Shipping is about 45 to my house. Should be about the same to yours.
here's the saved search.
http://www.1010tires.com/tiresearch.asp?submit=yes

ninja edit... I took a shot in the dark and assumed you have a 98 quest. I hit the plus size button to get the filter to select the proper size of tire. Prices starting at around 130/tire and shooting up to 200.

Let me know what you end up doing.
Cheers.

I am running Nokian Hakkapelitta 4's on my stock sawblades, which come pre-studded from the factory. I have sworn by my Hakkas for years, and they are a great match with the Max. Got them through Kal-Tire for around $130/corner.

I'm planning to put winters on my beater. I'm still deciding weather to buy 2 new or a set used (if I can get my OE size). Right now looking at the Dunlop Graspic DS2 and the Toyo Observe Karits

Speaking of tires. Are there any other brands besides KUMHO that are made for Maxima's unique 17" size? Almost every tire shop I visited had nothing in stock in my Max's size except KUMHO.

I'm located in the midwest, rural midwest at that. Closest big cities are 2 hour drive 1 way. Yeah, this is one of the problems: bery limited selection. Kumho's seem noisey to me - road noise? Gotta get back to work so can only get online for short spurts.

Ha. I put on my year old Continental Sempers(?) a couple weeks ago as I knew I had to make a trip north to Grande Prarie. Blew one out south of Fox Creek and had to do the side of the road change. Spare had about 4 psi in it. Oops.

Dropped the tire/rim off at Tire Warehouse as they had stock and 8 days later they finally had a new tire installed. Problem is that apparently these are discontinued, so they put on a different model. Totally different tread design (more modern with the twin grooves). Also, although its listed as the same size, its quite a bit taller than the others. So I'm thinking of putting the spare back on and getting another to match.

So I'm having winter tire trouble already, and it hasn't even snowed yet!

Nokian Hakka-1s, 205/65R15 on steel wheels. I will never buy another winter tire than Nokians. I have tried Michelins, great on ice, useless everywhere else. I have tried Blizzaks, great for two years.

Now that I have them on... COME ON..... SNOW ALREADY!!!!!

I know..every year, snows before i put my snows on, once i put my snows on, no snow.

Same this year, the week prior to putting on my snows, it was down to -1C at night, and hovered around 3-5 during the day, summer tires hated it..put on my snows, bam it never drops below 6C.

I have Blizzak WS-50's my order got screwed on the WS60's.

FWIW, I love them, yeah they have super soft sidewalls, but bring it on snow..

FWIW(2) 215/55/17 on a 17x8 + 30 rubs ever so slightly under full lock or hard cornring with a 2.5" drop.

Just threw mine on last night about 11pm! I'm running Bridgestone Blizzak Revo1's on a set of 95 Mustang GT wheels. 215/55-16 on 16x7.5 +30.

I know...they're mustang wheels
BUT, the wheel design looks just as good as stock 16's, IMO. AND, the fitment is soooo much better. They're way more flush than stockers. Not to mention they were free...

The best part is...I picked up all 4 blizzaks for like $260 IIRC.

I WANT SNOW!!!

oh yeah, and:

The Hakka 4's I have this year are by far the loudest tire I have ever run on. Sounds like I'm running on 4 Toyo Open Country's :P But, I will always sacrifice to get a better tyre... no compromises for me.

Got my winter tires on mid November.
Here (QC) they're mandatory staring with December 15th (this year) and November 15 starting next year.
Had driven my 2k Max with brand new all season tires in the winter as well as new winter tires and I can say it's a hell of a difference.
On the 17" OEM rims I got a super cheap set of Nexen 215/50/R17 for 89$ each from Walmart. They ride great so far and can't beat the price anywhere else!

Mandatory? In Quebec. Thats news to me. It only makes sense though. Once you get a dedicated set of winter tires you will never go back to all seasons again.

Big mistake to say that.

This morning I almost stuck in deep snow (side streets) with the Pilot Exalto, otherwise I am fine so far.

After a foot of snow, I'm missing my Max and the front wheel drive.
A couple of years ago, with the Blizzak MZ-01's mounted I could climb that big unplowed hill on Willingdon in Burnaby eazy peazy. There were a lot of cars stuck on the side because they still had all-seasons on and there was a Save-On-Foods trailer truck stuck with them too.

I've scarcely driven my Maxima in snowy conditions and rarely if I think the roads and bridges have even been salted. Some might think I'm a tad anal, lol.

However, I have had to drive it this winter because my old RX7 died (RIP).

Living in Richmond, hills aren't a problem so I'm just on my Yokohama Avid H4S all seasons.

So far my Max and the Pilot Exalto heldup pretty well in snow. I haven't really experience any major slip (which I lost control). The only problem I have was last night I couldn't reach my building after I turned from the main road as the snow was too thick and my tires couldn't reach to the ground for traction.

Clearence is my issue also, with the lip on the front it wants to play snow plow. I have been leaving it parked for the first day of snow and taking the wife's Axxess since it has better tires. Only spot of trouble was coming out of a side street.

Nice to hear from you two, Bobo & BlackCat.

Yeah nice to hear from everyone!

I Love my blizzaks, the only restricting factor is my snow plow issue. My oil drain like is like 1/2" above my center cross member, so im also very weiry abou that getting hit and leaking all my oil out. Other then that, ive managed to get everywhere i need to so its not too bad.

4x4 FTW though..being able to do donuts in parking lots, then using 4wd to pull youself out when you go to far FTW!

Didn't go to full winter. but just put on a new set of Goodyear Eagle GT's. Worked out nice this morning. With a better ride than the Ventus II's that came off.

I was getting sick of winter, because we hadn't had much snow down here in Missouri....but we just got a good 6 inches of fluffy white stuff! I'm sure once it melts I'll be ready for spring. I just want longer days and more sunlight; winter gets depressing after a while...
