I am coming back to Vancouver this Wednesday and will be staying until Friday Afternoon.
I know that I just missed the Festival of Light (Which I happened to catch last year when I visited...very fun!) so I was wondering if there were any suggestions of things to do or places to check out.
I will be here with my girlfriend for her birthday, so strip clubs are out LOL
Thanks!
JP

If the weather's nice I would head over to Granville Island in Vancouver or go up to Grouse Mountain or Whistler. They have ziptracking tours on which I think is new. Stanley Park is good for strolling around or take in 18 rounds at the pitch and putt. We have a lot of beaches in and around Vancouver if you want to soak up some weather; English Bay in downtown, Spanish Banks/Jericho Beach, Golden Ears in Port Moody or Buntzen Lake/White Pine. We have a lot of outdoor type activities that's for sure.
There's also PNE/Playland which is on right now on E. Hastings. We have an drive-in theatre out in Langley about an hour drive from the center of Vancouver. Marine Drive in White Rock is usually good for an afternoon/evening.
Too bad you couldn't stay through the weekend the annual REVscene summer meet is on in Pitt Meadows. We're pretty pathetic for car club meets but this one brings out several hundred cars. Apparently it's piggybacking on some local festivity as well.
Not much else I can bring up at the moment unless you plan on doing a fair bit of eating in which case, if you guys are into sweets I would recommend going to the chocolate buffet at Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Vancouver. They only have it at 2 time slots on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays I believe. I've been wanting to go myself.
AWESOME! Thanks for some ideas! From what I can tell we are suppose to catch some beautiful weather why we are there.
Man, I really wish I could have stayed through the weekend!
Keep the ideas coming guys!

The Vancouver Canadian will be playing a "nooner" on Thursday. Nat Bailey is a great little ballpark and farely cheap to go to a game. There are the concerts/shows at the River Rock Casino (Richmond) & Boulevard Casino (Coquitlam). Or catch the Theater Sports Improv at The Arts Club on Granville Island. Not to mention the clubs, you can check out www.straight.com. Telus World of Science or the Planitarium at H.R. MacMillan Space Centre.
Outdoor places like Burnaby Haritage Village, The Capilano Suspension Bridge, or the tram up Grouse Mountain. Lots of places for short hikes - Lynn Valley suspension bridge & head waters, Steveston, Burnaby Lake, Stanley Park (aquariam, petting zoo or rent a bike and ride around the park), Wreck Beach (for letting it all hang out). Moutain biking on the North Shore. Hang at Kits Beach and people watch.
Some of these can be linked as there is a Seawall path that goes around Stanley Park, past English Bay & Yaletown, past telus World of Sceince into Granville Island, then along Vanier park (where the Planitarium is), then to Kits Beach and beyond. You can check out http://www.blockwalk.ca/britishcolum...ouver/seawall/
Some of the Lynn Valley trails are nice, there is some waterfalls along with a sort of gathering area with swimming and cliffjumping, (glacier water though, cold as hell)
+1 on Grouse, up top the mountian there is some great stuff to do in the summer.
If your up for a short drive too Harrison is an awsome lake and beach just about 1:30 - 2:00 hours out of vancouver,

Check out the grouse grind if your looking for a hike or something. If your looking for some nice sight seeing, you can even check out buntzen lake up in port moody. If you take barnett hwy to ioco tthen make a right its hard to miss theres lots of signage.
Playland is definately a good place to check out, If your in that area, go across the iron workers memorial and head to Deep Cove. Very nice area there, nice biking trails too!
Lots of places, depending on how well you know the area. Deep cove in north van, spanish banks in west van, white rock beach in surrey, grouse mountain in vancouver. Capilano suspension bridge in north van(i think north van or west van?).
or if your into the mall scene, check out Metrotown, or if your a high roller, gas town in that area. Very nice!
