Cdn 00 SE vs 01 SE AE y-pipe

I sold my budget y-pipe from my 00 SE. The guy who bought it has a 01 SE AE. He went to a shop to install and they said it doesn't fit and flanges do not line up. Is this true? Is there a difference between the 2 setups?

There should be no difference at all. Ask him if the shop loosened the front pre-cat, it make a huge difference when installing the pipe. Everything is the same.

Um, Fed spec y-pipe vs Cali spec y-pipe. 01's are all cali spec and 00's are either cali or fed spec. So if he has a fed spec y-pipe it would not work on the 01.

Stand corrected, though I would not expect a Cali Spec car made it's way to TO. But it is possable.

I've seen this before.
There were Fed spec 00 Maxima's in Canada
All 01's are Cali spec.
That's probably the answer.
Did the front of your Y-pipe (For the front header) end on the horizontal section, or did it bend up and end vertical?
Cali spec end on the bottom flat part (horizontal)
Fed spec bend up 90deg to end vertical

Sorry to thread-jack but I am trying to find out if my 00 max is fed or cali spec... Can someone direct me to a thread or some pics so I can determine? Thanks

You can check on the emissions sticker or give the VIN to a dealer and have them run it.

Another way to tell is by the number of o2 sensors you have. If you have 3 o2 sensors then you have a fed spec and if you have 4 o2 sensors you have a cali spec.
