Moments with my max
Thought I'd share a few shots with you guys....
25/08/2007 14:53 P.M
13/09/2007 22:43 P.M
03/06/2008 03/06/2008 06:15 A.M
10/06/08 13:54 P.M before replacing EVAP CANISTER and VENT CONTROL VALVE
I don't know how accurate it is, but after replacing evap canister and vent control valve, it said 9.6 L/100KM and after racing with a 3 Series coupe last sunday, it reads 9.5 L/100KM now.

what the heck? are you SERIOUS? 15L/100KM?
are you towing a boat or something? that's like a double cab pick up truck if you get 15L/100km.
After replacing evap canister and vent control valve, it reads 9.6L/100KM now, i'll get pics ASAP.

Now my dash reads 14.9L/100km, still horrible. What kind of gas do you put? Since the gas went to 1.40 a liter I put regular. My evaporator canistor was changed 3 yrs ago by the old owner under waranty and i looked at it today and there are no leaks, I am thinking maybe its a bad Valve. The car runs fine its just getting REALLY BAD gas millage. How much does a new valve go for? You have any other suggestions as to what I can do?
Thanks!

dont be cheap with the max man. it needs premium and maybe that's why you're getting 15L/100KM.
i've tested a different gas pumps. so far Shell lasts longer than any pump i've used.
i did it when gas prices were stayble and i tested with premium only.
fill up with different pumps available in your area and mark down the KM's and compare.
try to be as low(in fuel) as possible before each fill up.
OR use up whatever is in the tank and try Shell, it might take a tank before you see any differences, or it might take sooner and i have no idea how much a new valve costs.
make sure you empty out your car as much as possible. dont keep things you dont need in there.
regular maintainance helps too, like coolant, transmission, plugs, proper inflated tires, A/C, etc

Are you trying to rub it in my face with that pic? ;-) Well today I started to put premieum again, I usually fill up at Petro Canada, there are really no shell stations near my house. Driving back home tonight the lowest I got was 11.1L/100, but it was going between that and 13.5L/100. I gonna look at it more closely when the tank it completely filled with premieum. Right now its kinda half regu and half premium, gonna see in about a week and a half cause i am leaving town in 2 days. BTW if the vavle and canister where bad would it triger a check engine light?

Always use premium, make sure tires are properly inflated, change spark plugs, air filter, do regular oil and filter changes. You're driving style also affects the kind of gas millage you get. Do you have an SES light?

Yup I have an SES light.....Thanks for your input, I will keep you guys posted on how everything goes. I just looked over my documents and if my EVAP canistor or vent valve are bad it falls under my extended warranty. But they must be working fine cause I have no SES light on.

That liter/100km is so wrong half the time.
try this. reset it just before you get onto the freeway, ive gotten mine down to 7L/100KM.
It doesnt mean anything, it was the first generation of the distance to empty on nissans, i know in my work car (07 altima), the thing is almost bang on, fill the tank it says 540KM, i usually get 520-540km to tank.

Nope. I have an 02 SE AT too, with mods intake, y-pipe, udp, timing advance. When you pull it up on the trip, just hold down the trip button, same way you'd reset the trip odometer kinda thing.
The only true way to figure out your gas mileage is to record the KMS per tank and recording the amount of gas you put into the car. I know in my 3.5 i usually put 53L (~11.65Gallons), and i usually end up getting 475km to a tank if i drive it slow. 475km = 295 miles. Divide the two and you get your MPG = 24.6MPG.
Liters used (Liters/4.546) to get IMP gallons
KMS/Tank (KMS/1.609) to get Miles
Divide gallons used into miles to get your MPG.
Its kinda sad my 5spd 3.0 got about the same as my 3.5. Now that the 3.0 is boosted im scared how crappy its going to be.

I used to get about 500-550km on each tank, my trip computer was around 11l/1000km but didn't seem too accurate. I usually got the best mileage from esso for some reason. I used shell for a long time, but after trying esso once, I never went back to shell.

Nice max!
I own a 4th gen, but my cousin got a 02 6spds blue.
This summer we did a road trip Montreal-NewYork, and we got an average 7.9l/100km on the highway at 125km/h on the cruise.
Only a cai mod, the rest is oem.
That was awesome trip.
