Anyone bring used car parts into Canada?

I'm planning to drive across the border to buy & pick up a used maxima hood, but I'm wondering what duties will say when I declare it. I'm buying the hood for $60US, and will be carrying it in a rental minivan.

I was thinking of getting the seller to write/type me a letter stating what he sold me, how much & his contact info, so the border people can confirm the purchase if they want to.

Anyway, if anyone has personal advice & can offer advice, that would be much appreciated

The letter is a good idea for just in case, but overall it should be swiss cheese. Personal purchases they do not care about much, it's commercial ones they are after. Just tell them at the border that it's old, used, $60, going to go on your car, bought from a friend in this city. They should let you through with no problems.

Either way for that much you shouldn't even pay anything.

take a sales bill with you incase you run into problems at the border. I brought my new stillen lip across last year with 2 bottles of wine. Told them in total I had about 200 worth of purchases. Asked me if I was bringing any tobacco or firearms. Nope. let me through no problems. I was in the usa for about a week. time spent there will make a difference on the $amount of stuff you are allowed to bring back.
hope that helps. good luck.
