TorontoNissan meet....what happened?

Was anyone there? What happened? I'm hearing rumours all over the place. What a horrible way for a club to start a season.

I was there.

Poorly planned meet. We couldn't meet in front of the rainforest cafe as originally planned since YD was packed and there was no parking. The meet went on at the top level of the parking lot and was going well, lots of sweet cars showed up. Suddenly outta no where everyone heard tires screeching and ran over to the wall that overlooked the parking garage and you could see a couple of cars trying to drift in there. Police/security showed up numerous times to keep things under control and let us have a good meet, but they were forced to kick everyone out because the drifting/stunting wouldn't stop. I think a couple cars were impounded/ticketed as well.

So then everyone went across the street to the Home Depot for a short while, someone shouted the cops are coming and that everyone should go to Commerce Gate. At that point it was just me and one of my friends that was there, and we went to commerce gate along with the rest of TNC. We drove by CG but left since most of the cars were gone. After my friend and I left there was some more drifting and a drag race on Hwy7 involving multiple Skylines. It was brought to an end after police set up a road block, tactical officers were also deployed and a chopper watched everything from above.

There's a big thread on TNC about the whole thing. Even someone from the Toronto Subaru club saw everything and posted on their site as well, with pics. I don't think I'll never go to one of those meets again, I'd hate to be associated with a group like that. And you can bet with the TNC stickers on those cars advertising the website, the cops will be keeping tabs on them since they post where all thier meets are going to be.

daym. That sucks for all of us as this starts the season off with a bad taste in the public's mouths. I haven't been on the TNC forums in a while. I've boycott that club for almost a year now....Oh well, its a shame the few have to ruin it for the many. Were the cops giving tickets to just anybody? or only thedrifters?

I just read the thread on TNC as well as on the Subaru forums. Seems like about 7 cars got impounded on hwy 7 for drag racing (most of them skylines), and some retard in a white 300ZX was doing a 180 in the damn parking lot at yorkdale.

Yorkdale has now kicked them out from holding meets there and that probably sucks for any other clubs (mine included since we hold meets there), from having meets at yorkdale anymore.

Also read on the TNC forum that it seems like knightyyz got his door dinged by some douche in 240sx. Not cool.

what a bunch of tools.

Knight got dinged? Knight must be pissed for heading out there from Hamilton. i'm glad I stopped supporting them last year. I know there are some really good guys part of the group and some really good drift drivers who take it to the track, namely Blade and Vlad.

yeah, skidzz88 posted that he will make it known to other TMEC members not to show up to TNC meets and Blade was trying to defend TNC along with a couple others... I'd definitely not show up to a TNC meet.

I was there also, +1 on Skidz comments

There were a few sweet cars but I left before any of that choas started. I am alos not supporting that club in any way again, I just thought it would be fun to get out and see some cars stood around their clicks, I don't even know who the organizer was.

Its unfortunate, but the skylines that got nabbed were coming from the GTRC meet. I actually know one of them. Nice guy, but serves him right for street racing.

ya, I got dinged. I even parked a little farther away from the car to prevent it and I still have a white paint mark on my black car.

Very poorly planned meet, Glad I left when I did. Great to see Arthur and Faisil though.

TNC should not be held responsible for the stupidty of other's. However this to me is cause not to attend these meets once there are idiots like the 300 driver and stuff that ruin ish for mature tuner's. This is a really sad day. I can see all the Honda driver's laughing as the heat is off of them now and focus will be on Nissan's. In my eyes, in 2 weeks my car will become a target as opposed to a modded Maxima now.

I think its just bad cause TNC already has a pretty bad rep in the mod community. Known as a bunch of young driftnuts with attitudes and chips on their shoulders. I remember it was a little evident in the postings from the threads. Then to go to one of their meets to have this happen...this will be a tough bump in Rick's club to overcome. Its unfortunate that non members created the incident, but it was at a tnc meet and that's what everyone will remember.

okay, so i decided to drop by around 9.30 pm, and knew right away that yorkdale is a completely stupid spot to hold a meet. any fool knows that just about every space gets overrun by regular shoppers on the weekened at yorkdale, so why the hell would they even think to have a meet there?

anyhow, i arrived, saw a bunch of skylines doing laps around, then went to another section and saw a bunch of beat up 240s and a few 300zx's parked. i saw a few g35's parked a distance away from them. at that point i said f'uck it, and left. stupidity.

if no one arranges, i will throw a thread up in a week or two for all of the TMEC guys to meet at 400/7. i was thinking of inviting other car clubs, but stupidity clearly runs within the TNC group, so i think that would be a bad idea.

And I think that the police should make examples of those listed. They are the people who are making it so difficult for us serious enthusiasts who obey the law and mod thoughtfully.

What's sad is it is not kids. Some 40 year olds listed. There goes the myth "street racers are only spoiled kids".

I was really surprised when I saw the ages as well. I was sure it would have been a bunch of near 20 year olds showing off.

I was at yorkdale at 7pm as I had to meet someone else there to do something. I tried to park near the rainforest cafe and it took me half an hour to find a spot. I did what I had to do (met with DJ and Faisil) Faisil drove me back to my spot around 8pm and we looked around for the meet. We found a few cars out back so we finally went back and I go in my car. then I bumped into ZEP. According to ZEP the parking lot was supposed to have been cordoned off for our meet but security forgot. I told him we had found a bunch of guys out back and there was plenty of room for cars back there. SO slowly everyone trickled back there. By then it was dark and not a good time to take photos. If we have a big meet we should try for earlier in the day so we can see the cars and take photos if we want.

Is that the zee-toys 350? I was in a show with him. Car looks nice, but up close the craftmanship looks a little iffy. He's a distributor for aftermarket parts for 350Zs and we were talking about making him a sponsor of nismoclub. His trunk is really impressive but everything is bolt on, no custom work at all except fo his "carbon fiber stickon panels"

Overall that 350z car was mint but I agree with the carbon fiber pieces, they just seemed to be slapped on everywhere

I see this is where you all ended up.....I logged into TMEC and to my surprise, no TMEC. I guess that's what happens when I take a really long break. Any idea when it will be up again?

A car meet at Yorkdale???

Im surprised you even found a spot out there. The 7/400 area by Boston Pizza was one of the best places to hold a meet. Not too many cars and a wide open area.

How's the car Ray? I'm having rust issues, ABS issues and suspension problems. Not to mention the high cost of gas... every now and then, I just drive the van. Oh well, just a nother glitch in life I guess
