My Shaved Antenna

Yes, I would have it done again.
the AM recption is sorta crappy now, but there has been no real change in the FM. I don't really listen to talk radio anyway so it hasn't really effected me.

looks nice dude.

i m gonna have to do some body work on my car too. last week some one hit my car in the nait parking lot i was just pissed off. i got a dent in my driverside quarter panel. if i would have noticed it right away, i would have looked around for the ****face and found him, but i noticed it when i went to fill up. which was too late.

but thats that. how is everyone dealing with the -45C temperatures and the icy roads.

That sucks about your car. I took mine to FX designs just across the street from Erickson Nissan. he was by far the cheapest in town and I think he did a really good job. He was able to get my car in right away which is always a benefit.

All I will say about the roads is thank God I put on winter tires this year. They have been fantastic. That day when we got like 5 cm or what ever... I pulled out of the garage and took a look at the alley. I didn't think I was going to make it out, but those tires pulled me through.
Hey Raziq, have you finished school yet?

yeah winter tires and curbs are a life saver in winter. if it wasnt for the curbs i would have rear ended a ford on yellohead. i was going to work on saturday morning going through yellowhead, right under st.albert trail bridge there was a 3 car collision. the lady infront of me just slammed on her brakes. i tried braking but the road was so slick it wouldnt work so i had to brush my wheels against the curb to stop. luckily no damage to max, and got out of it safely. THANKS GOD.

yeah i m still going to NAIT. i will be done sometime in april or starting of may. i m trying to get a job at one of the nissan or infinity dealerships. hopefully it will go smooth, and i would be able to help you guys out with cheap parts and labour. CHEERS.

hey jasen wat do you think about $400ish for all 4 rotors, ceramic pads and a right rear caliper. we are working on our own cars at nait. my discs were pretty bad had way too much runout. and my right rear caliper is leaking too. nait priced me out at about 400ish. i just wanted you see wat you guys think.

depends on what brand of rotors. I could have gotten some made in Brazil rotors for Cheap. Check with I&M imports on 156st and about 116 ave. I ended up going with Brembo drilled and slotted rotors, braided stainless steel lines and Axis metal matrix pads. All for about 500 or so imported. I would never but those pads again as they dust way too much.

What brand of pads?

You might be able to save a few dollars and just get a rebuild kit for that caliper. I dunno. 400 seems like a good price though. Considering that you will get a new caliper and that's prob. over 100 or so.

they are both professional grade raybestos pads and rotors. the rotors are just the regular solid faced rotors i cant afford the slotted drilled rotors right now, so i just went with the solid faced.

the caliper is like 117.90 i m too lazy to rebuild it right now
the total came to $388 for all 4-rotors, pads and caliper and a 1-litre bottle of brake fluid.

Seems like a fair price to me. Blank rotors give you better stopping power anyway. The slotted/x-drilled are mainly for looks. At least on our cars they are. If you want to paint the hats, I have 3/4 a container of black paint left that will paint those nicely. They won't show any rust that way and you could paint the calipers at the same time.
lmk. I could meet you someplace if your interested.

no i m gonna leave them the way they are right now. we have a sand blasting machine at nait so i sand blasted the brackets and they came out nice and silver. i wish it was summer so i couldve slapt on my rims too cause you cant really see everything with my 4th Gen wheels on.

so, you have nothing on those steel brackets to protect them from the elements? That nice and silver will not last and soon it will be ugly and rusted.
I hear you on the summer thoughts. With yesterday being +10, I was entertaining thoughts about sticking the summer rims/tires on also. But the roads are still wayyyy to gross.
I washed my car on the way home. It takes 10 minutes to drive home and you couldn't even tell that I washed it. It sooooo needed to be washed.

yeah i did the same thing. we had a test and got off earlier so i stopped at the car wash, but by the time i got home it was the same as before i washed it.

i m too lazy to do all that work all over again right now. i still have to flush my brake fluid, so when i have everyting apart i will throw a coat of paint on them too.

you have had that can of paint for a while i think its time to get rid of it.

I had some repair work done from an accident that required the rear bumper be replaced. I decided to have the antenna shaved at the same time.
Thanks for the compliments.

So what did you decide to do in place of your antenna?

no. I used a portercable 9227C with a wool pad. Some meguires product to polish with a final (8000) finishing pad and then some synthetic sealant. hope that answers your questions.
