What is a "Test and Tune" event?

A local road course has a couple lined up for the following months and it's quite a bit cheaper than signing up as a member and paying the ridiculous monthly fees. Is this basically a "run what you bring" type event?

At drags T&T is the same as open time so I'd think road coarses similar.

Yeah, no official timing (or maybe none at all). Open event (there may be run groups). Your car still needs pass safety inspections. Probably won't be any classes to classify your car.

no classing, no indexes, no competitive racing, etc...

it's just for people to work on sorting out their suspensions, technique, etc without having to do it during a real race or autocross or drag...

Good idea at T&T sessions is to try various tire pressures throughout the session, try different suspension settings (camber, toe, etc if your car can be adjusted), try different driving techniques, etc..

Our local track offers a test and tune day, single laps with no timing. You can get alot of seat time but it's hard to tell if your going faster or not. It is alot of fun .... If you were talking about Gainesville raceway I could set you up with a better deal.

It's a chance for people that are unpaid representatives for Ksports to get beat at autocross by a Nissan Titan, then make some lame excuses about tire wear for never autocrossing again...........

Mike,
Which track you looking at? There's lots of 'em around here with events coming up. Z Club will be going to TWS in November....

Darn, sorry for the late responses. I didn't get a notification update on this thread.

Anyhow, thanks for the responses again, guys. (LOL@97SEdriver). I guess this is a pretty good idea then, sure beats paying out the wazoo to be a member. The place also offers driving classes but only using their cars.

Matt, i was looking at MSR Houston. Have you been to that one? It's the closest to us, TWS is just a tad bit too far for me now (just had our 2nd baby) . When in November is Z going? Are you running the 240 or is the Max back in action?

Congrats on the kiddo! still none here, but we have two dogs now... I don't know how people keep up with kids....

I've been to MSR Houston.. It's okay. very bumpy track. it's also extremely flat. zilch for elevation changes. TWS has more elevation changes and is a much faster track, and is usually quite a bit cheaper. It's only a bit farther to drive as well. it's 1.5 hours to College station from my house in Manvel- only about 45-60 min if you live on the west side of Houston. MSR-H is about 20 min south of me, which makes it a good 1+hour to anyone on the north or west side of Houston.

They're doing a lot of upgrades to the track right now though. supposedly will make it a lot safer in the event you run off course. it was pretty treacherous before.
Info here:

The Maxima is running daily driver duty.. the 240 is pretty much a track-only car now. I might bring the Max back to the track later, but I'm still trying to sort through some engine tuning issues before I take it out.

Why don't you come out with the ZCOH? Fun will be had by all.
