Sorry I cancelled out and missed out. Thursday I installed some new control arm bushings and stripped some bolts a bit. I didn't have time to hit a dealer for help before the weekend. See you soon.
yea here when theres not 3 in a class, they combine you to the next 'higher' class.

245's would be fine... maybe even 255's. No more autocrossing on 205 street tires.
Please use the term "r-comps" in this forum, unless you're referring to non-DOT race slicks (which you won't be able to warm up sufficiently on an autocross course).
The term "slicks" usually refers to either "drag slicks" or full-race (road course/circle track) tires.

Well he could run the slicks in EP, and some of the softer compounds could work well in autocross. Most prepared cars are running on the r25 or r35 compounds. The only problem is finding a good size that can handle the weight of the maxima. You should consider trying the 23X9.5X15 cantilever slicks on a 15X7" wheel in R35A compound. These were designed for the E production and GT3 cars. Maybe even the 23X8.5X15 size on the back for more rotation.

yeah, I was referring to use for the maxima.....road racing slicks come in the bigger diameter sizes we'd need I think. I still question how good even soft-compound slicks would be on smaller autocross courrses. It's not like you can heat them up in the water pit or anything

I dont think there would be too much problems getting heat in them during the summer. They are designed for cars that weigh 2000-2500 lbs. There would definately be issues getting heat in them in colder months but they will still perform better than a street tire. The only larger option that wouldn't require chopping up the fenders is the 22X10X16 which fits on a 16X10" wheel. I think the 23X9.5X15 on a 15X7 is a better option because the wheel is a lot lighter, cheaper and easier to find.

Correct. At the Topeka national's last year the weather was only in the 50's in the AM and some Prepared and Mod cars threw out the slicks and went to DOT race rubber like the Hoosiers and Kumho's. Unless you can afford both I'd think the DOT rubber would be a much better overall choice.
Nitto NT-01 or Toyo RA-1? I'd be willing to sacrifice the grip of the V710's for longevity of most of a season.
What about A6's? Longevity? Grip?
Get the slicks, man, do it, DO IT
But seriously, i wouldnt rule out the V710s they last longer than the A6s. i have 50 runs on mine and they have just touched the wear bars. i can probably get another 30-40 runs on them and thats driving at the limit of the tires. 90 runs will be about a season and a half for me.

FWIW - watch out for grip falling off on those V710's. Numerous souces report they go off due to heat cycling way before wear indicators say so.

They have been pretty consistent for the first 50 runs. i plan on using them till they are corded so well see how bad the grip drops off. i would think that even worn out v710s would be quicker than fresh RA1s or street tires.
