anti-submarine on 4th gen cloth seats
Hi there. I can't seem to find a supportive driving position on these manual cloth seats. The seatback is raked about 10-15 degrees, the buttock section is at it's lowest, and the anterior thigh section is up 1/2 way. But I still find myself slouching. Are there any anti-submarine techniques I can use?

how far are you sitting from the wheel, in relation to your arms (if you sit with your shoulders back to the seat and put your arms at 10 and 2, how straight/bent are your elbows?)

Our stock seats really don't hold you in place. Especially the side bolstering. Harness improved my sliding around but with so much padding I still couldn't feel what the car was really doing - we were not at all connected until I replaced the seat itself.

irish44j: I'm 6'1" and 140lb, driving 5sp. so I gotta be able to use the clutch as well as grab the shifter. That being said, when I hang my thumbs on the wheel spoke (9, 3 oclock), my elbows are slightly more than 90degrees. If I straight-arm my left arm, my wrist rests on the top of the wheel.
BeJay1: I was really hoping I wouldn't hafta spend $$$ on racing seat. Plus this's still my daily driver... but even in daily driving I'm still sliding down. I've already accepted that there's no side bolstering, esp as slender as I am.

I figured out my problem: my head was not resting against the headrest. When it's on the headrest, my lumbar spine keeps it's curve. When my head isn't against the headrest, it arches my whole back and I slide down. Just sucks that helmets are so thick in the back, kinda awkward position for the neck.

Try pulling out the headrest and reversing it 180 deg. You get another inch or so of rear head clearance

Huh, didn't think about that. Does the headrest stay up? I'm 6' tall, kinda need it higher.

The car is also my daily driver. The 350z seats are low, and I'm not good with weilding new brackets. What other seats fit 4th gens?
