Need help with amp install in 6th gen

I took my car to a car audio install shop for them to install my kenwood amp and kicker 10" cvr. I told them I wanted to just be able to add a little bass when i wanted it via the included bass ****. I pick it up when it is done and the guy tells me they couldn't just use the regular harness to add RCAs, they had to run some LOC from the factory amp or something to that effect and the bass **** doesn't function. It sounds horrible and it isn't the amp or sub. The only way to control the sub is thru the headunit's bass control. What I need to know is there any possible way to install the sub and leave the factory deck and speakers exactly how they were? I just want to be able to turn on the sub on and off when I want to. Is my only option to get a aftermarket headunit? If so will it work the factory amps and speakers? I need to know what to tell them when I go back tomorrow to complain. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What make Kenwood amp?

If it supports a control ****, it doesn't matter if you're using line level converter, because from the LOC you're still coming out RCA passive signal. The supported **** should work period.

You need to go back and get these guys to fix the mess. Sounds like they botched it, and are passing it back on you. Again, you'd need to determine 100% that it supports the ****, but even then if it's just a straight amp, it should still sound somewhat decent...or they wasted your time and theirs.

I called Kenwood and confirmed the remote should work. The amp is a kac8151d. The remote was brand new. I'm thinking they messed up the wire somewhere during the install. If I get the remote to work properly will turning up the HU volume change the subwoofer volume, I hope not?

Yes, the volume of the kenwood will adjust as the signal is changing with the head unit volume adjustment. That's how it's suposed to work by design.

By having the remote ****, you're able to adjust the amp so that from one music style to the other you can keep things ballanced. Turn it up for Rush, down for hip-hop to achieve the ballance with the rest of the speakers.

But the head unit volume will always control the output that goes into the LOC, which goes into the sub amp.

Something to consider, the LOC is probably adjustable. They may have it turned down way to low...this is a one time adjustment, you'd need to find it and make minor adjustments until you're getting the right output you're looking for...
