New Stereo For My 2002 Infiniti I35 Sport

I have been interested in upgrading the current stereo system in my car. It has the stock bose system that came with the sport package. I have done a few searches on this and have found that others have had some trouble with the following...
1. replacing the headunit can be troublesome due to the fact that it might leave a space in the dash area, and,
2. The stock bose unit runs at 1 ohm where most after market systems run at 4 ohm.
Correct me if I am wrong, and if anyone has any can help me with the two problems above and give me an approximate price range, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have used Crutchfield for the past 20+ years for all my audio/video gear. The folks there can get you started on the head unit to buy and the adapters to get it to interface with your Bose and steering controls. On the trim pieces fitting, since it's an Infiniti, that is a tough one. May want to have a professional shop install it in the event there is any fabrication done. As far as cost, the company above should be able to give you a cost for the headunit and adapters and they may be able to point you to a local installer as well.

^^ are you a Crutchfield spokesperson?

Crutchfield will give you misleading information about the impedance difference, guaranteed. Read the "Bose radio replacement" thread to get the right information about how to properly install an aftermarket radio onto your Bose system.

As for the trim piece, there IS an OEM JDM trim piece that is floating around, but it is VERY hard to get a hold of one. You can try PMing 'sycefiro' as he has been known to source them from time to time.

I don't work for Crutchfield. I have had good experiences buying from them over the years.

Just trying to help.

I have been told the JDM part is no longer available. Insted, check the I30/I35 forum for the Metra kit, apparently they are finally being shipped. Do a search for the impedance issue, been discussed many times.
