Noisy Sound System after upgrade: Sosche or Clarion?

Hi guys,

Brief background:

2K SE with Bose system. Removed the Bose HU, and installed a Clarion 2DIN HU with the Soche kit.

The sound is pretty good once I go beyond 15 on the volume (I can't go past 22 because it is too loud) but at lower volumes, it sounds like CRAP. Really!

I have no real experience here to point the culprit: Clarion HU or the Sosche adapter?

I am even considering buying the PAC kit, but before trying, I would like to confirm with you guys if there is any chance the sound quality would improve if I replaced the Sosche with the PAC kit.

Just please don't tell me my Clarion HU sucks!

Not sure which kit I bought, but it was the sosche for the Bose Nissan Maxima... I did not by-pass anything, just replaced the HU and installed the kit.

When I researched about replacing HU, i had basically two alternatives: scosche or PAC.

Dude, not that I dont want to help you, but as you can see, I don't know much about these things.

All I can tell you is this: i have a 2000 SE with Bose system (bose hu, speakers and amp). I wanted to replace the HU and I posted here how to proceed. I was asked if I wanted to replace the bose amp + speakers or keep it. I said I just want to replace the HU, and keep the rest of the Bose system. They told me it was fine, and all I would need is a kit, either the PAC or Sosche. I bought the Sosche (i think it was much cheaper) and easily installed the new Clarion HU.

There was no trim or anything with the kit. But you are right, I had to buy a different console trim to fit the new HU, but thats another issue.

Anyways, all of the above happened 2 or 3 years ago, and I was never satisfied with the noise at low volume, and just now decided to fix this thing.

Not sure if this will help you, but thats how much i know about this things. There are a lot of threads guiding the HU swap and explains all that in much better detail.

Now coming back to my thread, all I am asking is if the sosche kit can possibly be causing this noise issue at low volume and if it is worth trying the PAC.

Anyone had the sosche and replaced with the PAC due to sound quality issues?

Thanks,

BB

that pac kit? possibly, if your **** is running w/o the correct bose bypass harness you have now in the car. but using the correct bose harness will also correct this.
