amp is 2ohm and 4 ohm , how do i choose between them

amp is 2ohm and 4 ohm , how do i choose between them

i have a mtx 4202 amp
i waanna know how to make it run at 4 ohms
and then at 2 ohms jus so i can hear both of them

any thoughts ?

The resistance sepends on how you wire your speakers. Go to www.jlaudio.com for the tuorial on different wiring setups.

Yeah, the load determines the ohms that the amp sees... You can't just change it.

ohms is resistance, the lower the resistance the more power the amp pushes out

Well technically you could, if you had a switch or series of switches between the amp and the subs that changed the way the speakers connected to the amp. However there is no telling how long this switch would last if you were flipping it. Of course it would a lot more work to get it wired correctly than to just change the wires when you felt like it. Then again it would be pretty cool to see that in action, but if it's just switching from 2ohm stereo to 4ohms mono there wouldn't really be that much difference....wow I am typing nonsense and I would delete it but thats a lot of wasted typing. Hmmm. I forgot what the subject was, oh well.
