Ive put a Memphis audio cap under my hood, but my concern is the Heat and in the winter it freezing, but its a large cap and it looks good under the hood,
I beleive it wont freeze because electrolyte dont freeze easily, Iam more worried about the heat.
Your number one issue will be moisture. I would be much more concerned with a possible short due to corrosion or failure of the unit.
I would first suggest you look into why you chose to use a cap. If you are dead set on using one, try securing it to the underside of the rear deck or behind the jack in the trunk. Another option is under either of the front seats.
If space is that much of a concern, why don't you address your reasons for getting the cap in the first place. The are many more efficient ways of addressing issues that won't take up more space.
I honestly find it very hard to belive that you have zero interior room to find an appropriate spot.
what you do is:
1) find somebody who is very suggestable
2) show em the awesome shiny thing
3) hype it up and sell it to them for as close as what you paid for it (or more)
4) buy some large gauge wire (big 3), a nice battery, and maybe a ho alt (assuming there was a problem to begin wth)

I was also wondering why you would put it under the hood. Constant heat, and then moisture when under your hood is just asking for trouble. How about the trunk? Don't you want the cap close to your amp anyway if you are going to use one?

I just spent $170 on a new alt, i use 2 gauge wire, my amp is under my passenger seat wich is huge, the power stuff under driver seat is not feasable , cap was free, and my battery is a Red top. , headlights still dim, only other option is a ho alt wich is not a consideration now because i cant see the need for one , when the one i have is 110 amps.also finding a ho alt that fits oem in my area, forget it.
Reason i got the cap is to help act as a buffer between the alt and the amp , i fried the alt at the last spl comp and i dont want to shell out that much again.
did you do the big 3 upgrade? running large wire to the amp only ensures the amp has juice. you need to upgrade underhood cables to make sure your electrical system doesn't get hungry.
