Pioneer FH-P8000BT double din size.
I'm looking to replace my stock Bose HU after the display decide to stop working one day. I don't like the looks or harder operation of the single din size that most aftermarket stereos still use. I really like the look, features, and simple looking operation of this Pioneer double din unit. The only problem is Crutchfield says it can't be installed.

I know this is wrong as there are people on this very forum that have this unit installed. I'm just wondering why Crutchfield thinks it can't be done. What, if any problems would I run into during installation of this unit? It seems to me that I'd just get the usual single din with pocket install kit and take the pocket out.
If anyone has pics of this installed in a 5th gen. Maxima I'd love to see them.

They sell Double DIN dash kits now for your car.

And Crutchfield is weird with their fitments sometimes...according to them, not one of their decks would fit into my Honda Prelude lol. I have no idea why they do that sometimes.

I decided to go with the single din Pioneer DEH-P5000UB instead. When I really looked at it, I realized I didn't need the Bluetooth feature from the P8000BT, I decided to just save the $140 instead. I may even just put that money towards another full year's subscription to Sirius. I really do like the double din sized better for the way it looks, especially in a 5th gen Maxima, but I'll deal with it.
You're right about Crutchfield's fitment guide being wack. I put my wife's 91 Maxima in and they claimed all the double dins would work fine with her's. Not so for my '02 though.
