Do i need a entire new system? My HU is already busted and was thinking about replacing it, so whats a good budget system? Looking for mp3/ipod input also.

Speaker?

Front speaker is simple, if you can take off a door panel you can change the speaker.

Rears are not as easy.

Im not that good with HUs and stuff.. so wait for others to chime in.

Taking them out is easy. If you want choices on audio you're in the wrong forum. Also, it's your money. You need to drop more information then "whats a good budget system". How much do you have to spend and what are you looking for?

My GF's cousins BF said he's get me all four speakers (pioneer or panasonic) and a AUX ready headunit for 275ish.

sound good? he said i need all four because the bose speakers are amplified or something.

my head unit cd player is busted btw. It works, but the sensors that are in see if a cd is inside dont work. So no feed/eject.

you dont NEED to change all 4 speakers. install a aftrmarket headunit with line level adapter and you can keep the bose speakers if so wish. any car electronics shop can help you find the right part. just stay outta the big box stores

I dont think 275 is that good of a deal (but then again im not an audio expert)

You can get a decent HU for around $100 with aux in and four aftermarket speakers for about $100 or less. Stock would be way cheaper, and as long as you arent shaking the neighborhood with your sounds, stock should be fine.

depends. $275 is pretty good in my book for audio. Prices on lower end alpine + components and coaxials....
New headunit: $200
Component Speakers: $280
Coaxials: $180

so I would say $275 is good for all that stuff if they are quality parts. They may be low end stuff that won't have great sound but still. Luckily I get at cost audio so I should save a pretty penny on the parts I listed.

Yeah..

I suppose OP should post brands/models or whatever so the audio guys can help you tell if its a good price.

If you're only paying 275$ the HU may be ok, but the speakers will be junk more than likely.
If you're not getting good speakers, stick with the bose, that way you only need to replace the one, not all of them.
the stock speakers are much better than low end pioneer, etc.

Solution if your car is a 95 or 96:

1.) Open up Bose HU and solder broken resistors. While you're in there, do the AUX mod.

2.) If front speakers are blown, it's usually because the crappy foam surround disintegrated. If you run a bead of silicone caulking around the foam, it will essentially glue it all back together. I've done this, and it works great.

Price: almost free. Some wire, a switch, RCA jacks, and a little elbow grease, and you can be proud of a mod-job well done.

If you're on a budget and don't want to mess with Bose any longer, Walmart has a deal going on right now. You get 4 Sony Xplode speakers and an CD/MP3 head unit with AUX input for $99. Or you can buy this system from Walmart, sell the 4 Sony speakers on Ebay and use the money to buy an inline adapter for use with the Sony headunit and a working Bose speaker to replace the one that's busted.

The Bose factory speakers sound pretty good with after market head units. Just make sure to get the inline adapter. Crutchfield sells them.
