Here is my setup right now,
2 jl 3002 on to each set of dyns in the front
1 5001 to a jl 12 w6
I am using the jl audio processor with the summing device.
The only reason i have not changed out my Head unit is because of the NAV but I have a great Nakimichi I used when I competed back in the day! i dont plan on changing the amps or subs, the speakers are on order but the Dyn Rep needs to order the 9" inch drivers versus the 8". My car could go right now, but I will be at a slight dis advantage with the dyns no being up to par!

Jl's are great products. Price is always the question. IMO if you get a good deal on JL equipment it's worth it. As i have 2 12w6v2's, Im in love, too much love. Headache LOVE, infact i had to disconnect one of them, lol.....Too loud, great SQ though.

So you have a passive set of Dyns with a pair of 300/2s? You want to swap 170s for 182s .. all with a Cleansweep and OEM HU? And you want to compete with me?? Please dont take this as me having a lagre head, but honestly I dont see chance here. Seriously it would be wrong of me to take your money. No disrespect intended, but its just not a fair comparison at all.

Your right, I only do this for a living, especially with Nissans. What was I thinking, everyone and their mama are right, listen to them and suffer with a OEM HU.

OR ... you could just ask and I could help you (its quite simple actually).

Don if i lived closer i'd take you up on your offer although i wouldn't put $1000 on the line for it...more so for bragging rights :P

my setup is

Infinity Perfect 6.1 fronts
Infinity kappa 62.7 rear
Exile 800.4 amp
(before i get jumped on for having a "bright" system, it's set to -3DB and properly tuned so its not bright at all!)

Premier TS-W5102SPL Sub
Fosgate T20001BD amp

For HU i normally use my Pioneer D3 with a separate crossover but if i did this i'd swap in my Premier P880PRS as it's a much cleaner sounding deck than my POS D3.

I'm supposed to head down to NYC in the next week or 2 to meet some family so if i do i'll make sure to take a swing by and meet the famous Don :P

Bro,

Have you seen the list in Don's sig? There's no comparison in system. Not saying yours doesn't sound good (to you) but still.....

actually when don posts i dont see a sig pop up.. lol

a lot of the times though you guys go by hearsay and not what you have actually heard first hand.

for example when i played my setup a lot of people were like wtf and couldn't believe it sounded so good.

unless of course you have heard the same subs/speaker set up i have then yes that's different =P

for example i went by hearsay and purchased 2 sets of the rainbow soundlines SLC 265's when we had that GD last year... i honestly didn't think it was much to rave about and switched them both out.

the way you guys were talking about them i expected these things to be the next best thing besides God probably lol.

Yes I've heard what you have, and have heard what don has MULTIPLE times.

How did you have the SLC's installed? On/off axis? What kind of amp on them.

I have got to hear more information on what you didn't like about the soundlines as wells as where/how they were installed. I have installed several pair in deadened doors and have had zero people want to swap them out, unless they were putting up more money that is. For the price point, you will be hard pressed to fins a "warmer" more inviting set.

OT, Don, I should have 100% of funds for the CS's this Friday afternoon. Please PM your paypal, or post here, whatever you want.

BOT, I wouldn't feel bad about taking someones money if they were that confident in the results, but I def see where it wouldn't be the "right" thing to do.

I think you guys are to quick to jump on the JL hater bandwagon. While I dont really care for much of what they have to offer and would never use any of there products in my car with the exception of the 12w6v2 which can def hang with some of the better sq subs out there. If someone likes what they hear more power to them they can buy whatever the hell they want and put whatever they want in there car.

You guys cant hate JL for what they have done either heck if it wasnt for JL, Alpine, Pioneer etc no one would be buying car audio 90% of the smaller "better" companies out there would never exist and small shops like Dons would either be out of business or wouldnt open at all. I Have plenty of respect for what JL has done just because they spend millions on marketing does not make them a bad company. I mean Isnt everything in business about making money?

I don't think the problem is so much with the company as much as it is with its customers who think their products are better than ANYTHING out there when this is far form the truth.

Heres the sig..
DVI-9990/TMI-M990/PXI-H990
TRU Billet 2200 ..Dual RE SEs
TRU Billet 4100 ..Morel Picollos/Hertz ML500 Ribbons
TRU Billet 4100 ..DYN MD182s
Optima,Stinger Expert,Cascade,Clifford,TSW Lagunas Staggered ,Stillen,Motordyne,UTEC,HKS,Rotora,etc

As for not liking the SLCs.. its all good, I suppose not Everyone will, but of the 30+ sets a month that sell I hardly hear a peep on the negative side. Bang for the buck theyre great, but again I guess not for everyone.

I wouldnt classify as haters of the product. Personally I do like some of their products with the exception of some minor mishaps and the manufacturer of the w7 not getting deserved credit its a good solid company.

What I do hate is the followers of the name. Id say a good percentage of JL owners bought the product simply based on very good marketing tactics on JLs part without giving competitors a chance. Theyre all over the net, magazines,tv,etc which in turn does prove to be Excellent marketing on JLs part and I applaud them for that.

unique switched to JBL which honetly isnt that impressive except for the amps which are oka for the price. Honestly I dont see jl audio advertise as much as Pioneer, Polk, Alpine. The first time I heard about the company was when I heard it in a firends car years ago.

I wouldnt classify the Crown amps as unimpressive and I certainly wouldnt say that about these either..

That would be because Pioneer,Polk,Alpine,Kenwood,Sony, etc are alot more diverse and provide alot more products. Pair that with Very large working capital and alas Major advertising.
