Ok buddy im kinda having a little trouble understanding u, but what i can understand is that u have a black cable and an e-brake cable right? Well both should be connected otherwise ur dvd player wont work. They do this in order to avoid people to drive and use dvd functions at the same time. Tell me wht kind of dvd player is this? I have a pioneer and didnt connect mine to the e-brake. I just connected the wire to a switch and ground (no power). With this I trick the HU to think i'm in park mode. I would check around first though because some DVD players are different and might need to connect urs diferently if u want to bypass the safety feature. The other cable(blk) should be grounded.

my guess is the black is ground. what are the other wires attached?

edit: did you mean 'black' wire? or 'back' wire?

if you unbutton your ebrake boot, you will see a nut there, it holds onto the ebrake cable. you can attach the wire to that..worked for me.

Without knowing what kind of DVD player it is its kinda hard to help. Although typically if you want to watch video while the car is running/ebrake off then you should just ground the brake wire.

"Back" wire is most likely for a backup camera activation. Although Again...we dont know what kind of unit this is...
