What brand do you have? I know that all the escort ones have a kit you can buy for them so that you can mount the alert light on the dash, and run the wire through the back.

i dont own one, but i used to install them all the time.

either stick it up by the rear veiw mirror and run the wires up in the headliner, down the A pillar, and into the fuse box.

or stick it on the dash, run the wires between the windshield and dash, to the a pillar and into the fuse box.

then tap off a switched source and screw the negative to the chassis.

Most will work simply by cutting the wire and running it to a switched source, a few will force you into buying a hardwire kit.

I have a valentine which im about to hardwire. I actually just wanted to see how other people did it. Ive heard of people attaching it to the auto dim mirror, the sunroof, fuse box, cigarette lighter, etc.

also how much is it shipped for the concealment kit from valentine? I can't find the shipping rate without entering my credit card.

I generally go off of the cigarette lighter or the steering column.

I have a Valentine, I hung it close to my rearview mirror cut the wires and ran them to my front mounted vanity lights. Its always on unless I turn it off manually. Has been like this for 2 yrs now, doesn't or hasn't killed the battery (not an optima) and I've let my car sit for 4 wks at a time while I was gone and it started right up.

I have a Passport mounted above the rearview and tapped the mirror wire for power and grounded the other wire to a bolt/screw that was close by. No need to run down the A-pillar. Just had to find the power wire (only 2 wires to choose from) to the mirror.

For those of you that have a HomeLink mirror, you can steal power from the connector for a really short cord. Invisicord sells them. I got one for my G35 and it's great. Cheap too I don't see maxima on their install guide but I think Nissan/Infiniti Homelink mirrors should be similar http://www.invisicord.com/install.html
