Head unit gone bad

I have a clarion MD head unit. and the mids and high's stop working. I took it to Bestbuy to have it looked at. the instller told me that the head unit was bad. i asked why did my sub still work. he said because the rca's are different from the other speaker wires.

can i just use a splitter from the rca's and send one to my amp for my sub and send one to a 4 channel amp to the mids and high's?

How did you have it hooked up before to play your other amp?

it was set up to run the 2 channel for the sub and the other spe3aker wires that were for the doors. i used the rca's to run the amp and sub.

Ok so the interior speakers were not amped at the time? Sounds like the internal amp went bad.

technically yes, but I dont think it would sound to great. Although prolly better than it did before. Provided you have aftermarket speakers.

like don said. Youll lose your fading etc but it is possible. I would say ****** another unit or get that one repaired. We have a local guy that usually charges 50-75 fir that so you may be able to match that locally.
