Are you master of the obvious!?
Now obviously, I think I have this right, but obviously I am not sure too, so I obviously need your help, aaaaight!
Now my Eclipse 3413 is a 2.7v preout, and my Xtant (http://xtant.com/html/techSupport/pdfs/2200ixIns.pdf) have 5 settings for the gain. Per the manual says 0db=1v-3v. So obviously this should be my setting since 2.7v falls right in the 1v-3v area correct? I also have independent left/right gains that I should turn up manually to point of distortion with headunit @ 80% volume. I do notice I have to turn that gain all the way close to the max to get good volume. Would that be okay since I am at the correct input level of my headunit?
I just want to make sure I am doing this right, since I just had this repaired and I want to make sure I am taking advantage of this properly.

Ideally, you should not be at more than 75% volume and maybe even closer to halfway. This makes for optimal headroom, and room to grow in the future if you got 12's instead of 10's ... or whatever.
Also, your box may not be taking full advantage of the sub. An optimal box is the best way to get great bass. Bigger box size means more low extension and smaller power handling while a smaller sealed box will yield higher power handling, but lowered efficiency and low end extension.
If your box is ported, the box and the port size could be off.
