replacing HU and speakers - keeping bose sub

alright.. i read thru the faqs for the bose stuff.. now my question is.. do i still need to use the PAC-OEM1/RAD-UNV/AMP-NIS2 kit if im changing the door speakers as well?? i read somewhere on the .org that the rear speakers were quiet compared to the fronts after installed jus the HU with the wire harness kit. should i go ahead and wire the speakers to the HU directly? i still want to use the stock Bose amp and tweeters.. so should the harness kit be installed? thanks i would appreciate it

DiZ

oh yeah. the SWI-X.. anyone have a write up for this? wanna use the steering controls as well. thanks

If you aren't adding an aftermarket amp, you shouldn't need any kind of adaptor. I believe the one you are asking about is for going from speaker level to RCA inputs, which isn't required in this case. Are you going to run your speakers straight off the head unit?

You'd have to send a signal to the bose amp as well as the new speakers from the new head unit [use studman's wire diagram to help you figure out which is which]. There's a possibility that the sub amp won't like getting power on it's input leads, but I doubt a new head unit will have more than 20 watts or so, so it might not matter. The same is possible for the other bose amp, if you plan on sending the signal to it prior to the speakers. Hopefully someone who has already done this will chime in and let you know.
