I've got in between $5 - $6000 And I'm not done either. I'd like to add 2 TV's in the headrests (as soon as I get leather seats) and a 4000 watt Eclipse amp and Eclipse Subs in a custom enclosure Oh yeah
Soundstream 600x1 amp: $129
Two 10" Type Rs: $198
1 sheet MDF: $18
Liquid Nails, Silicon and Screws: $12
4 gauge amp kit: $28
20 square feet of carpet: $17
So just over $400.
They sound awesome, and get way loud enough for what I want. I've run them as loud as I'm comfortable with for about 20 mins, felt the amp, and it was just barely beginning to get warm to the touch (highly recommend soundstream amps, even their bottom of the line ones). Since the subs can handle 300 RMS, and thats what the amp gives to each, I guess I'll try and crank them all the way, and see what happens
As for the mounting: I took the 2x4 that you can see in the picture, laid it flat, and then cut the ends to match the angle of the wheel wells where they would meet. I then used a rubber hammer to wedge the 2x4 between the wheel wells (hit it towards the front of the car once the sub enclosure was sitting on top of it).
I'm not exactly sure how, but wedging that board underneath somehow pushed the back top edge of the enclosure into the padding covering the rear seat, and it sort of just stuck there. No amount of braking or accelerating up hills seems to dislodge the box, even though its not really bolted or stuck to anything! The fact that it weighs close to 100 lbs probably helps keep it there.

Keeping my fingers crossed...
Nice box!! Make sure you bolt it down or you might have some really bad consequences in an accident, or even at random if/when it finally breaks loose.

Well mine is finally finished. I accomplished exactly what I wanted. A nice kick in the @ss with a usable trunk. Had a local shop build up the glass box but I did the rest. Now I gotta solve all the interior rattle issues. One layer of Cascade was enough for the front doors but I need to do the rears and deck lid. BTW, y'all got some nice sound.

What is the internal c/f of that enclosure. I really like it. Stealthy. Good luck with the rattles. The only way I got rid of them in my 3rd gen was to add twelve's till I couldn't hear then any longer. I ended up with three.
here are a couple of pics of my current setup. i have 3 audiobahn alum 12x and a sh!tty amp my friend passed on to me. This system really pounds when its paired with a nice amp, tryed it with my friends amp and i was blown away. this is my second setup( 1st was 2 performance techniques 12's and a matching perf tech amp at 800 watts.) This current setup will stay in till i decide what to do, i luv the subs so i might keep em and just get a better amp. more pics are at my cardomain site Click Me For More Pics

Nice setup! I bet those bang. Heres mine, I dont no if i posted them on this thread. Check my site for pics @ night with the neon.
Here's my amazing stealth setup... lol. Sub is now on the other side of the car tucked sort of into the corner. Will work on something custom soon once i get a new subwoofer.
(since i don't have this complete yet) but here is what i will have
12" XXX
Hifonics bx1500d amp
GREAT CHOICE. i have 2 XXX 12s and 2 bx1500ds and i am in love with it. they have the cleanest sound i have ever heard and get deafining loud. when i turn it 3/4 of the way up people cant stand to be in there. but the only problem with my setup is how much current was being drawn. i recently had to get a 220 amp alternator because mine died after about 4 months of having my system in. good luck with the install and keep us posted with pics. if you want pics of my system just let me know
alright finnaly took pictures of my box all carpeted. i chose astroturf cause it kinda goes w/ my cars color scheme, it was different, and it was cheap lol. those are 2 12" XXX subs and they are run by 2 Hifonics bx1500ds. the amps are mounted in my wheel well, and i have 2 fans down there to keep things cool. ive had all this for a while, just never got the chance to carpet it and make it all presentable till recently. hope you enjoy. Greg
To the man with the RE XXX's and the 1500d's...that is sick loud. However I would like to see your noise dampening material...if there is not any...i feel bad for the car.
