Can I hook a DVC 2 ohm & 4 ohm together?
I have a JBL 600.1 running one JL DVC 2 w3 sub. A friend of mine just blew one of his DVC 4s and has an extra 4 ohm sub. Is it safe to wire these to my mono amp? If so what kind of ohm load will I get?

Assuming that the DVC is at 2 ohms:
If you run them in series, you'd get 6 ohms. If you run them in parallel, you'd get 3 ohms. Not a single amp that I know of will work at those loads.
Assuming that the DVC is at 8 ohms:
If you run them in series, you'd get 12 ohms. If you run them in parallel, you'd get 6 ohms. There is a few amps that will run at 12 and 16 ohms, but I wouldn't do it.
As an alternative, you can always add a second 4 ohm sub to the one your friend has and run those with the DVC, but I'd be careful on the wattage/ohmage that you use. Most likely, keep the DVCs on one amp (or one channel of the amp) and the non-DVCs on the other amp (or other channel of the amp).

Examples:
a 4ohm stable amp can run series(6ohm), but you loose some power due to the mismatch.
a 1ohm stable amp can run parallel(1.66ohm), but again you will loose some power to the mismatch.
DO NOT hook up a 1.66ohm load to a 2ohm or 4ohm stable amp. It is too low and you can damage the amp. You can always have more resistance, just never lower.

ex. 600W ---> 400W to the DVC2, 200W to the DVC4.
I'm not sure how it will sound, but electrically speaking it will work.

Thanks for the replies guys. This wasn't for my car but for a friend's. Don't think its something I want to mess around with though, giving the subs different amounts of power. It would be great if my friend had a 2 channel I guess.
