Here's the latest skinny, straight from the car's ECU...
Pin 44 IS the PNP switch (the switch that determines if the car is in gear or not). However, it only emits +5v when the car is in gear, not +12v like the ESM says. So, I've bought a 5v relay from Radio Shack, and am designing the circuit now. I should have full diagrams when it's finished and installed. The problem I've run into with the relay is that I need to design a way to power it ONLY when the Remote Start is active. The reason for this is that it would break the connection when you are in first, make the connection half-way between first and second, and break the connection when in second. This is "1 cycle" on the relay. The relay would cycle EVERY time you shift. And as you can imagine, the relay isn't gonna last very long at that rate.
So.... yes, pin 44 WILL work. But I haven't designed the circuit yet. I'm still researching the Viper 800 ESP with RS add-on, as well as the Viper 550 ESP (less options and wires available) to see how I can accomplish this. Stay tuned (will work on it during the holidays too).
