My manifold-to-hood measurements were made before I raised the hood for better cooling, I figured that if I do have hood clearance problems with a 2009/10 Maxima UIM I can install longer bolts in the hood hinges before lowering the engine. I keep the axles straight as possible so I don't beat up the CV joints any more than I gotta. The suspension is confined to about one inch lift when launching, and about 1 1/2 inches when hitting a bump. Tokiko lowering springs and a lot of hard rubber spring spacers and the shocks set to "5" keep the travel to a minumum, yet setting the tire air pressure to 25psi front / 38psi rear gives a decent ride.

Or I could take a rubber hammer and make a hella dent in the hood...

I prefer solid engine mounts, since the front only is solid right now and works well, and any attempt at lowering the engine will be the time to make all of them aluminum plates.

Quick question about the cam timing on this swap. Would it be possible to use regular 05 max cams in the 07 Altima VQ so that I could use the adapters? I did some slight FSM research and they both have the same bearing/bore diameters. Only difference I can find is the lobe height witch is about .6 mm less on the max cams.

I am assuming the cam length and lobe placement would be the same but I would just like another opinion before I make the decision to try it. This way would just be 10x easier for me since I have multiple sets of 05 cams laying around, plus I don't really have the resources to drill the Alti cams.

Thanks.

Yes. Look closer, the 09 TB was converted to cable driven.

Yep.

I run the cable in the rear.

Yep, no reason you can't run any non-HR head VQ cams with adapters. But, as with any cam swap, you'll want to check the valve lash.

I'm not planning on going back to the track till the fall. IMO there's no point going past May. I hate lines and the heat soak.

It's hard to tell if I'm burning any oil. If I am, it's a 1/2 qt between changes.

I've yet to get the VIAS hooked up and the WBO2 wired into the emanage for logging but that should come soon. Most of my free time has been going to my project car.

@niceguy, thanks.

When I converted the 09 TB to cable I used the spring from an 03 TB since I re-used it on the 1st 3.5 swap.

Very nice build, do you plan on boosting at all?

Curious why you couldn't get the cruise control to work?

Nah, no boost. Maybe if the car was in better shape I would.

I could get cruise to work if wanted but I just dont feel like putting the time/effort into something I would rarely use.

Got ya.. Will you ever consider a full 3.5 swap? I may need to replace my engine and not sure if I should go The 07 Altima engine or 09 maxima engine.. i know either way Im not unlocking its full potential on 3.0 timing.

So not sure if it even worth doing cams or not side I can't mess with adjusting cams at all on 3.0 timing. Or even porting heads.

Im supercharged now too... Im basically looking for a stronger better built engine that will be more reliable and efficient but also make more power than my 3.0
