So after months of waiting, attempted hardwire, testing, shipping, and TWO harnesses...
...my GReddy e-Manage Ultimate is now running my VQ30.
I'd like to thank everyone here, especially DandyMax, Product of Korea, whilmi, and MOHFPro90 for helping me with every step. Hopefully I can start tuning soon, my wideband isn't plugged in yet but I'll be able to sort that out when I feel like pulling my shifter trim/gauge out.
Just saying that Maxima.org is a great place for the performance minded. I couldn't have done this without the help from dozens of members.

Hopefully I can get a feel for the software and possibly do some tuning tonight. If it stops raining...
After a short test drive, the car felt better because of the tune that was on it I think. Better top-end, went from high 10s to high 11s AFR. Still need to pull more fuel though. The two-step rev limit is awesome also

See where I have my wideband gauge mounted? That piece comes out with the shifter trim, and I need to plug the signal outputs into the back of the WB gauge and hook them upto the EU.

What you could do is get a base map in third gear. Do 2 or 3 runs for accuracy. This way we'll know what your stock ignition curve looks like at WOT.
After that, the best thing would be to go to a dyno and play with timing to see how much advance nets you the most power.
Sounds good, Ill give that a try.
Whlimi, how did you tune your AFR? Did you use the I/J or airflow adjustment map? And does airflow adjustment mapping indirectly advance the timing if you pull fuel, like the AFCs?
Im looking to do either a flat 12.8 AFR or 13.0 dipping down to 12.8-12.5 after 5000rpm.

Use the I/J map. Adjust the injector pulse width (duration) with respect to MAF voltage and not Throttle Position.
You dont need to make any adjustments to the airflow map unless you go with a custom big bore maf and need to adjust the maf voltage.

Thanks Andy, you were def a big part of it for sure
Okay I'll keep that in mind. I'm gonna have to switch the jumper setting for the fan circuit and afterwards I'll start logging and get rid of the airflow map that the previous owner used to tune on.
I'll get the AFR down and then timing. Thanks a lot Maxima.org. Updates coming.

I posted in your thread. Hope you dont mind but i offered my fried ECU and pigtails up there. But if you want i can sell them directly to you as well. IIRC i have two pig tails and one ecu. I might have two ecus though im not totally sure though

Got a datalog of Ignition timing, AFR, and I/J pulsewidth in 2nd gear to redline.
EUers, peek and help me with some initial tuning decisions
Thank you!
If your WB is calibrated properly, you need to start pulling fuel at around 4000 rpm right to redline. Your AFR is in the low 11s and high 10s at some spots.
There's some good information on timing advance from some of the gurus.
For some reason, on my EU software it shows that your speed starts off at 130km/h and peaks at 431km/h lol...

What MAF voltage should I start pulling fuel at? Thanks , Ill take a look at the thread.
Lol, that's what my EU software said too. That's why I did 2nd gear instead of 3rd
You have to do a map trace to figure out what cell in the I/J map needs the adjustments. Open up the I/J map along with the logged run and when you left click on the map, a red vertical line will appear there. That cell will also be highlighted in red on the I/J map and that's where you will need to pull fuel. Dandymax explains this very clearly in his EU writeup.
As for the speed, did you setup the vehicle information correctly in the EU software? I'm guessing your vehicle speed pulse setting might be off.

sweet! if i cant get my 84 going i may replace the comp.will that work on an ooold sys.
Unfortunately no, this is a piggyback engine computer which means it cannot operate by itself. It can only operate when it's connected to a functioning factory ECU.

Car runs mid 12s AFR till the rev-limiter then goes to 10 flat (still need to work that out) But I'm happy with the fuel adjustments upto the rev limit.
Now for ignition timing: I did some reading and saw what people have said about how much total timing you can use at redline only. How about timing advance across the board?
If someone with more experience could step in and give me some pointers, that'd be great.

There's a noticeable dip in power since my Injector PW's go upto like 12.8 ms at redline but shortly afterwards it pulls like a freight train. I was shocked how hard it pulled up there on stock cams, it was fantastic. I plan on getting the power dip worked out as best I can and tuning after the factory rev limiter. 75mph in 2nd gear is delicious.
TDotMax, do you know if the stock ECU fuel maps go past 6,500rpm? I'm trying to figure this out cuz if you look at my I/J map it shows 8.00 ms at 7,000rpm, I did this because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to input a regular correction factor or a full out injector PW. At this point the AFR is low 10s, so I'll probably be backing it off a little.
One more thing, does the ignition cut rev limit work? Like you can see my rev limit was pushed back to 7,500 but what if I only want like 7,200?

you can try and make the rpm point a little closer. IE instead of going from 6500 to 7000 try shorten up the rev points from like 6500-6700. this will also make your rev limiter smoother as well. That way you can fine tune a little better up past the limter a little better as well.
The stock ECU does not have fuel maps past the rev limter. Thats how the stock rev limiter works it cuts fuel. So that is why you need to put in the full pulse width in after the limiter.
Cutting the ignition should work as a secondary rev limiter. I have never tried it but i belive there are members who have used this method.
