my 00vi swap issues. lots of smoke

NEW IACV QUESTION- search didnt turn up with jack.
Just got a IACV plate for the 00vi, i installed it but it didnt effect my idle at all. in order to install the IACV to the plate i had to take off that gold cap on the IACV, was this correct?
also, is there a way to test if my IACV is busted? ohm? voltage? just trying to fix this starting+idle problem of mine.
i need those fsm's back up...
thanks in advance.

IGNORE THIS
i just compleated my 2 day 00vi swap
i used a 5th gen rear VC
5th gen TB
-For the IACV i removed the clip's surrounding and put it in the correct port upside down(so that the lock pins normally facing you if you are standing on the driver side are now facing the engine.
5th gen UIM
4th gen Drilled Uim
ram intake.
no exhaust mods
im driving a 97.
i used blue RTV all over between the LIM and UIM. the 2 rear bolts in the UIM dont fit exactly into the LIM but not enough for such a huge leak i belive.
upon first start up it died almost immediatly.i expected that and re-tryed immediatly ,first thing i observed is that i have billowing clouds of smoke out my tailpipe. i expected this as oil fell into my engine while changing spark plugs. a negligable amount.
then, the high idle. idling at 1500 firm for 5 minutes. the familer sound of the ram air. and clouds of smoke come billowing out from somewhere in the engine.

i did a tune up today as well.
New PVC, fuel filter, oil filter, spark plugs and replaced the broken coil i had. my knock sensor is cracked but not sending up a code yet.(previous to the swap)

am uploading another more brightly lit video now while i got outside to try and figure this out
sorry for all the typos, in a rush.

other signs. i cant raise the rev past 3k. WOT or anything.
and when it reaches 3k it will just act like it hit the rev limiter. and one time out of 5 or 6 it was joined by a large pop.
my MAF is plugged in(had that happend before hah) and as far as i know isent damaged because it just sat on my desk the entire time.
upon second restart there was no smoke but as soon as i reved it appeared again.

Have you tried reseting the ECU?

Also did you recalibrate the TPS?

Also about the TPS. Did you have to extend the harness or add on wire to make it reach??

Codes??

also what does the smoke smell like

Oil?antifreeze?? RTV??

Also what did you do with regards to the EGR??

I know you have the block off plate for the UIM but what did you do with the tube coming off the exhaust manifold??

what codes are you getting? Not going past 3000 rpm is either MAF sensor or the actual throttle cable is getting stuck on something. You've got a big vacuum leak somewhere. The 00VI comes with a gasket build in, why the blue rtv. Looking at the permatex website they suggest black or gray for the intake manifold and not blue. Black has a higher temp resistance. I def wouldn't use blue between LIM and the engine block...

+1

No need for RTV gasket anywhere but on the cam journal for the VC

Can also be TPS. But one would suspect maf before anything.

But cable getting stuck on something to is a good suggestion

well, i discovered one vac. leak and plugged it up so the high pitched whine is gone.
no i didnt reset the ECU ill go do it now.
the smoke smells like exhaust
ive never smelled coolant burning before though,

i think my jb weld might have a leak so ill check that out right now, i sawed it off. and jb weld it with an upside down bolt cap.

will check codes after reset, i dont know how to recalibrate my TPS. i searched a few days ago when i fliped it but i just got more confused about it. so i went out on a prayer that it would work.
a brightly lit vid.

i keep seeing more post! My correction. i used the high temp rtv. said blue on accedent. and i was just making sure the seal stuck.
yes there was a HUGE vac leak via a small pipe but its fixed so i hope its the last of that.

throttle stuck? hmm. ill check that as well.
clearing ECU. will check codes. and continue to look for leaks. will also make a rev video.

sorry but setting the TPS just by blind luck won't work. Warm up engine. Unplug the brown connector from the tps, loosen the bolts that hold it to the intake manifold. Use a digital multimeter to check resistance of the top two prongs on the TPS itself, where the connector plugs into. Keep twisting the tps til it's at 500 ohm. Tighten back up and reconnect...

Yeah i would deffently redo that. It took me a couple of times to seal mine up. I had to let it sit for a day so it could cure.

Did you read this write up by any chance????

any ideas on the terrible idle?
i used the 4th gen pig tail on the 5th gen plug.
i took the edging off and pluged it in. and i fliped it so it was opposite the 4th gen way, i did this because i was a thread claiming that they were opposite. was i correct?

and thank you for the Very basic tps writeup. i will go to radioshack tomm to get one.
i just hope its that and not the MAF.

Recalibrate your TPS first then go from there....

well. i tryed to calibrate it. and all i could get was a reading of 600-900 as a quick flash then it would register anywhere between 223-240 resistance.
i took the middle eventualy and started it and it shot up to 3k once again over and over again without me touching the gas.
i printed off the VQ page and read it word for word. any ideas on what the hell is going on?

oh and locknuts your TPS was busted. im using my 4th gens now.

Edit;all fixed. dont know what but i unscrewed it again then re attached it then all the ohms and voltages matched up. thanks for all who helped. im gonna take it out on its first little jaunt around town then hook up the rpm switch
