But, from the start, we didn't feel that it was necessary.. as the car showed no signs of detonation.

wouldn't retarding the timing help with preventing the detonation? I mean you do have a management system with your setup that should allow you to adjust timing right? I realize you said you had it tuned but I would have it retuned. Also lowering the compression will reduce the knocking, however your timing is most critical. I would make sure that your cams were put in correctly and that your TDC was selected properly.

I agree timing is the most critical
The car is running the stock sentra radiator as well and seems to run on the hot side in the hot summers w/ a/c on
cams were checked twice

I actually didn't end up using the Tstat from the Z it points the wrong way. I'll have to do the Tstat mod on here.

Expect one soon, I'm excited to show what's done

I keep setting etas on completition but I'd say 1 week, 2 weeks tops and I'll have a video and dyno of it done. I'll post updates as soon as completed. It is all wired up for the tuning tuner just has to get to it.

I know the feeling. All the planning and thought out lists then for some reason there is always a delay...

As soon as it starts for the first time, every single hassle becomes a distant memory
