wouldn't retarding the timing help with preventing the detonation? I mean you do have a management system with your setup that should allow you to adjust timing right? I realize you said you had it tuned but I would have it retuned. Also lowering the compression will reduce the knocking, however your timing is most critical. I would make sure that your cams were put in correctly and that your TDC was selected properly.

I know the feeling. All the planning and thought out lists then for some reason there is always a delay...

As soon as it starts for the first time, every single hassle becomes a distant memory

I still say try for a Pathfinder TB , I think the Q45 is 90mm. and the PF TB is 70mm ?

I talk to TPS and I should be fine running the Pro-efi /piggy backing off the OEM ECU.

Probally keep the UTEC around if not one purchase it for back up, Anyways good deal on the software !

Damn that type of tuning flexibility is just begging for some more aggressive cams. Good stuff!

We will see how much hp will be gained adjusting the cam timing as well. Im pretty sure everyone will be pleasantly surprised with the results of a fully tuned NA build done the right way.
The C2 cams have high lift but relatively mild duration. I'd think they're more intended for F/I because of that. We'll see, though! I'd like to see those cams compared with some 272ish duration 10.8-11mm lift ones.

i am running c8 cams and jwt said they are worth 8-10 hp at the top end over the c2's but you lose a similar amount in the normal driving range

mine doesn't come alive till 4500rpm and pulls hard till about 7500 rpm
but down around 2200 its very flat

most of the other vq35de swaps i have driven had stock cams and feel stronger to me than mine in the 2200-2600rpm range

i think kevins car is designed to be a strong street car not a track star
imo the c2's should shine there

isn't a moderate increase in duration and a big increase in lift very old school for a good street cam set up?

For your heads, are you having them ported by hand or is it CNC'd? If it is CNC'd, do they have a program for the VQ35 heads or is it a scanned hand ported job that the CNC program is ran off of?
