issues with neo and 00vi

Well before I get flamed about using the Neo over the vafc2, I had the neo already from my previous car and just decided to use it rather than sell it.

Regardless, I installed the neo today. Everything works on the neo as it should except for it activating the 00vi. I had a MSD window switch that was activating it before just fine. I disconnected the + vias wire from the MSD and connected it to the pink on the Neo (same as vafc). All the other wires I used jime's and vqpower's diagrams.

I set up the neo exactally the same as the vafc as it basically is the same thing, same wiring, just more features. The V/T control is ON. I set the lo->hi switch point for the vias at 4800 rpm, but its not opening. I tried a few different settings but its not working. Is there anything I may have missed or something else that needs to be set up aside from the apexi?

Also how are you able to set up the maps for lo and hi cam like on the vafc2?

If all else fails I will just keep using the MSD window, but it would be nice to use all the features of the Neo if possible and expand the maps for tuning.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

did you provide a good ground for the VIAS?

Is it possible that the neo sends 12v power instead of a ground?

I thought the idea was to provide the VIAS with a ground? If the Neo provides a ground, why would you hook it up to the positive (12v) wire of the VIAS?

Also, try doing a much lower setting (2000 RPM or something) and testing it that way.

I followed the install instructions on VQ power and thats what they say to do...so I dunno. How does the MSD window switch work? That what was hooked up and working fine.

I can take any pics and post if needed if it would help

The MSD should provide a ground as well if hooked up properly. Try giving the VIAS a 12v and hooking the Neo up to the ground wire of the VIAS.

The only weird thing is that I took the same wire that was going from the MSD (yellow wire) to the vias (yellow and green stripe wire) and hooked it up to the pink wire of the Neo. The other wire of the vias looks like it is tapped into a red positive wire of a close connector so Im assuming it is tapped into the ground.

But if that is the ground, the diagram on VQpower says to hook up the pink form the vafc to the positive on the vias. And I hooked it up to the ground? So then I guess the MSD window switch provides a ground? I dunno is that right?

Thanks for the help so far guys

Using a VAFC the VIAS is sent 12v, and the ground is just chassis grounded. As far as a RPM switch is concerned the VIAS is given fused 12v(on with key to acc) and the grounded is provided at the RPM set. I dont know how the NEO activates the VIAS, but I assume it provides the power. Make sure you read the writeup thoroughly and note the connector clip location.

Then from what he's saying, everything needs flipped around from the way he has it. If I'm reading right, he's giving the VIAS a 12v already and attempting to use the Neo to ground it the same way he did with the MSD switch.

Right, which wont work because the neo PROVIDES the 12v while the MSD provides the ground.
