pat in this photo, (#5 on your website UIM diagram), we were talking about cutting the nipple off and drill/tapping a new 1/2" nipple.
Question 1 Do you think it would be better to come through the side. in the direction arrow #1 is pointing, and just plugging up that small nipple red arrow #2 for the IACV hose ? Pros, cons ?
Questions 2 # 3 this is for the EVAP, will this one also have to be bigger ?
Yes I know this is old but I figured I'd point something out. If you are reusing the EVAP CANNISTER PURGE VOLUME CONTROL VALVE(thing that sits on top of the stock 4th gen IM with 2 big hoses and a big connector coming off it) hose that goes to either nipple 2 or 3, there is no need to cut and drill nipple 3 in order to make it 3/8. The stock hose itself is only 3/8 on the control valve side while the other side fits either nipple perfectly. So before you waste a day drilling and waiting for the jb weld to dry, check the hose and see if it fits. Forgot to point this out last year when I was looking at it and realized that I wasted more than a day with nipple 3 and just used nipple 2...
Here in the first post with the links working. Maybe mods can edit the first post with this as the annoying work is done. I it is original except for the scary pic.
Welcome to the 00VI swap for dummies thread.
Im Ceasar, love Maxima's and love drag racing, but dont know diddly doo about mechanics. Got my engine today (vq30de-k), $526 USD and made it to the crib safely. So where do I go from here ? Why not start an 00VI swap for dummies thread to find out, and to help all the other dummies out in maxima.org land.
There is no such thing as a dumb question, just dummies asking them! So feel free to be dumb up in here, we all may learn something.
As more dummies come along, read the thread, do the swap, and work. We will end up with a large base of 00VI swap veterans on the loose! And hail, a bunch of faster 4th Gen Maximas out there too !
Feel free to ask questions in this thread (just like me), as I learn more, I can help more. And if you have the 00VI smarts, share people.
I have always had a weird Maxima Pride. Always wanting (especially the 4th gen Maximas) to be a great car out on the road. While we are owners, the more we help each other the more pride we can have in owning a Maxima !
I would also like to thank all the org members who are helping me out along the way. If I can successfully get through the OOVI swap then Im sure any Maxima.org member can. Until a few days ago, I had no clue how to remove a throttle body ? LOL ! If it were not for this 00VI for Dummies thread I wouldnt have gotten that far !
And now with the 00VI for Dummies thread, your 00VI swap is going to be that much easier. Lets GO FAST !

what tha ? this crazy thread on the first page in all motor ? man i just walked out to the garage and had a look at the old chariot, she has been sitting for 2 years ( had to tend to the family, had a few things going on) but I just got through emailing dandymax as I swapped a vq30de-k in the chariot and its a kinda : where do i go from here, lol ! bad memory of mine is lame. but a surprise to see this thread havent been on the org in 2 years either really.
it feels good to lift up the old hood and dust the old girl off and get ready to start putting everything back together, drag racing season in a few months !!!
At some point a ways back the forums changed or something happened which killed all those links, not sure why, looks like someone mentioned there is a way to view them,
todays pics
Have forgotten a few things so hoping to hear from dandymax im sure he is still on the forums? you out there bro ? also in all this time, any new go fast mods on the lil old vq30de or de-k setups. once i get the chariot running, believe it or not still a good 50 pounds or so I can remove and please someone take my sarona rear bumper !!

Yeah, just quote my post above your last one and erase the quote brackets. Cut, edit your first post and paste. It it has all the links working. It is your post with all the links updated.

Sounds good will look into that, to tidy up the thread. Just having a go at putting the alternator back on, and cant figure out the bracket. Can anyone shed some light on how it mounts back in. Not sure if Ive got it started right or not.
--------------------
Ok, so no idea if Ive even started this right, motorvate is not working for me, and my haynes manual is not dummy enough to help me figure it out. included some photos to show what ive done so far.
is this the right way to install the alternator ? i took the big long bolt and fitted it through with the part where the screw will tighten behind the pulley.
The other mounting part im having trouble figuring out how the bracket works in order to mount it ? and again I could have this started completely wrong
ok moving right along, if im not putting it on right ive come up with a new install method, rofl !!
the screws (12mm) i have dont seem to be long enough ? just need to know if this is how the alt installs back on, and then sort out the right bolts, nuts, screws, etc. looks like ive got a few in the wrong places.
edit got the lengths sorted, out just no nuts, after two years funny how things are missing when they have been tagged and bagged.
